If it's all up for Turnbull, let's see him call an election.

OK I just read the article. You may well ask why the media went soft, but why the hell did the Labor Party not use this as cannon fodder during the Bi-Election a few months ago? Can you imagine the same happening in reverse if it was a Labor politician in the same situation?

"The opposition has also declined to comment on the matter.

"The Labor party has made no public statement about Barnaby Joyce's personal situation for the last six months, despite the fact it's been well-known in this building, and we're not about to start today," senior Labor MP Chris Bowen told reporters at Parliament House on Wednesday."

Yes it puzzled me too.....sort of
.
Perhaps they decided it was just inappropriate (using a pregnant woman for political points, given the large number of women in Labor Caucus and the Labor outrage at the tasteless Liberal attacks on Julia Gillard as a woman- knowing some of these women I actually doubt whether they would be comfortable with that line of attack), maybe they were worried about scandals of their own (mind you no punches were ever pulled in the Liberal pursuit of Sam D and if there were any really juicy one's to pursue currently, I believe Dutton etc would be on them already) or more likely they just had no evidence. Most likely, all three.

I did read a report by a freelance reporter who went to New England just before the by election to write the story and she had a number of relevant people lined up to be interviewed on the matter. They all pulled out before she actually arrived in Tamworth. She made the observation that they said New England is National territory. NO ONE works there if they cross the Nats.

I do think it was a factor in Windsor not running at all. You will recall the tasteless Nat ads (authorised by Joyce) from the previous election about Windsor having an affair. How ironic! I reckon Windsor was worried about the Joyce stuff coming out during the campaign and him wearing the blame around town for it, irrespective of whether he did anything or not.

Hm, not my type, and the answer to the riddle is money, power, and fame.

Have any of you guys ever read a book called "The Game". A writer who was a virgin well into his 20's stumbles across a group of people who teach you to become a pickup artist. Not only did he become one, he took less than a year to have women throwing themselves at him and become a guru to other wannabe pickup artists.

I'm about half way through the book and there's one section where he basically admits he's tapped into something that automatically happens to celebrities - you become like a toy on a string for the cat to play with. The cat shows no interest at all when it know it can have the toy any time it wants it, but if you dangle it just out of reach, and move it around every time the cat grabs for it, the cat will chase after it all day.

Anyway, anyone watch Barnababble on 7.30 last night?

I thought his performance was one big act. He went from beaten puppy to attack dog as soon as Leigh Sales asked him some political questions about Adani and the Murray/ Darling. He also refused to be drawn on whether public funds were used to facilitate (travel, accomodation) his affair and why he was any different to the two AFL execs who resigned after having consentual affairs with junior subordinates. Nor would he answer a question about his decision not to disclose this ALL to his electorate before they voted in the by election. Crocodile tears as far as I am concerned.

He is trying to spin this as if he is some sort of victim. "Feel sorry for me, look how miserable I am. Biggest failure of my life". I wonder how his girlfriend feels hearing that. She is a media advisor- maybe she dreamt the approach up for him? Who knows?

His main complaint seems to be that politicians personal lives should be off limits. While I agree to a point, I don't recall Barnaby leading the defence of Sheryl Kernot or condemning the tasteless attacks on Gillard and her family from his side of politics and their supporters and mouthpieces.

My biggest criticism of Barnababble, however, is that he should have taken control of this earlier to protect his wife, children and the woman who is carrying his baby. It was always going to come out.

Obviously, Tony Windsor is still upset about that Nats ad against him in 2016.

In case anyone forgot the nature of the Liberal attack on Sheryl Kernot and gets too carried away with the current "it's a private matter" now it is a Liberal. Here's a story from 2004 about Don Randall's 1998 attack.

It's definitely a public interest matter. I just wish Newscorp would publish more "before" photos instead of the "after" photo.

Seriously, does Turnbull even know how stupid he is sounding.

Federal Public Sector wage agreement negotiations are to be capped at 2%.

https://www.theaustralian.com.au/news/n ... f9d15dcc09

This is after he and Morrison have called for employers to give bigger wage increases as part of their neoliberal fairy tale and Turnbull himself approved massive pay increases for his own staff (would love to know if Niki Savva's partner was one of them).

Oh and BTW I hope someone from the government will explain the conduct involved in finding Barnaby's girlffriend a new job. Was Barnaby involved? I know people who were sacked from the Commonwealth Public Service for being involved in employment decisions involving and travelling on the public dime with people they were having secret affairs with when the affairs became known. I can't see much difference. I reckon Barnaby has to go.

Throw in to the mix he just spent 6 months preaching to us about "the sanctity of marriage" - it goes to the core of his credibility.
