I'm too lazy to go back and find it, but when the talk of a banking royal commission first started, I predicted the axe would fall in the Financial Planning sector. Was I right, or was I right? So glad I got out. And I hope all those nasty people I was working for are heavily impacted by whatever comes next. They deserve it!

Barely a bump in the polls for Labor over all this. I can't stomach this bs that they 'got it wrong', when they did everything they could to protect the banks when the whole mess was already smelling foul. But I can't see Shorten ever winning office. I can't help think he's all a bit inauthentic every time I see him. All that media training to iron out his quirks just makes him look more shifty.

That and being told he is shifty all the time.

Turnbull tries his best for several years to protect the 4 big banks from scrutiny for disgraceful behaviour and give them $14 Billion more of our money. Shorten is the shifty one.

Joyce is still good for a laugh.
Barnaby Joyce has blamed his split with wife Natalie on long separations, and says partners should be permitted to work in political offices if they have the qualifications, and they want to.
That is, nothing to do with him.

Perhaps they could make the banks pay for the Royal Commission as well as the victim's compensation scheme Labor has called for, rather than give them $14 B more of our money.

No Medicare Levy increase to pay for the NDIS "shortfall" we heard so much about because it is not needed now.
So was Labor right to oppose it? Of course not.

Turnbull is thinking about an early election.

^^^^^ But plenty of money to build monuments to long dead British sailors, needlessly insult Indigenous people and provide massive tax giveaways to the big banks and overseas investors.
If "this mob" is returned, we really do deserve what we get.

The expert quoted in that article seems to always think Australia is doing a crap job on this ....

June 4, 2012 - Former ambassador to China Geoff Raby has warned the relationship with the Asian giant is in a "deep existential dilemma", accusing Kevin Rudd of breaching Chinese "trust and respect".

Well spotted. I had to do similar background checks on experts to see their overall outlook when I was looking into interest rates. Some consistently predict house prices to drop 15% others consistently say all good. I guess it’s hard to predict but knowing their preconceived disposition helps temper the expert advice.

Also interesting.

Are you suggesting that being Trump's reliable echo in the Pacific, proclaiming daily that the Chinese are hacking our computers and that their donations are deeply suspect (especially when given to Labor politicians), is an improvement on Rudd's outburst?

Not at all. But I'd say the former ambassador has an axe to grind - ie. that nobody from any party can do it as well as he did. After all, he has a consulting business to market on this very speciality.

I notice that the US has had an ambassador to China since last July- clearly a much higher priority than sending one to Australia
