Wow! That's so impressive. :notworthy:

I laughed when you said your son was fed up with carrying a heavy 1 X 12 cab and amp. Why when I was a young lad we used to .... :blah: :blah: :blah:

What sort of Amp do you have installed in the back there?

Don't worry too much that the fiberglass grill didn't work. Hey at least you tried. By definition, composites are comprised of individual components which aren't very strong on their own, but obtain strength when combined. It's possible to make a strong single sheet of fiberglass or carbon fibre. The catch is it would have to be pretty thick, and/or usually incorporates some sort of curvature or shaping .... think racing car panels. But with none of that, and with all those holes, it was always going to be a tough one.

Now you and your son can sit back, relax, and enjoy watching people nearly fall over backwards when they pick up the cab :)

He mentioned it earlier, Fender Rumble 350.

Yep, a Fender Rumble 350. Not the best sounding amp in the mind of my sun. But his Markbass II was a bit heavier (although I upgraded this amp with a B&O ICEpower power amp, as used in many class D bass amps nowadays).
Still not happy about the weight of the grill. I will keep looking for an aluminium one.

Started to do some bending tests on XPS foam. The idea is to make a curved cab with the center of gravity more close to the body (easier to carry). Usefull ... no, but working with foam and epoxy makes fun), I used the oven of my wife: 10 minutes at 90 degree C, and it worked. But the oven is to small for the actual panels. Anybody experience with bending of XPS?

Hmmm ..... I have no experience. But just a thought. If 10 mins at 90 degrees worked, and boiling water is 100 degrees, perhaps a trough big enough for the panels with boiling water? A bath tub perhaps?
