I owned a WT550 for a couple years (USA model). I never really got along with it, I kept fiddling with the EQ. Also had the amp fail and had to get it serviced. Changed to a GK 700RBII and have been much happier.

I would like to try another Eden because I don't know if I was getting the best out of it.

This was my experience with a 550, musical, warm. But i struggled for volume into an 8 ohms yorkville cab at the time which probably wasn't very efficient but other heads I owned in the same spec range were much louder. The EQ is killer, and the amp is compact but heavy IMO

I had a 410 neo cab, fantastic tone but the cab ended up splitting (bracing??) So that went in the bin after about 4 years.

Also very briefly had a WT800B. Didn't like it at all. Very hard to dial in a "present" sound and quickly switched back to a much lower rated (but much louder) 700rb.

So for me, I'd have to say I wouldn't go back, based on my experiences.

It's funny reading this thread coz i think thats atleast the 3rd including myself that have gone to GK RB series heads after a WT, and been happy. Modern vs vintage?

Yeah, I was already a go used for years. I went with Eden to just give it a go, really...

Just didn't cut through, although as I said before, the Eden cab with a gk head sounded great.

Mind you, I've completely changed again since..

hmmm - I guess Im gonna have to borrow and gig-test a WT550 and see how it goes.
My pet hate is a rig that sounds balls-out awesome at home, in the shop, in the studio etc and crap on stage. I know every rig sounds different on every stage but sometimes the rigs I've owned have me constantly tweaking to try and get a sexy sound....

Make it 4 - I went to a 1001RB-II and was happy with it for quite a long time.

I'd go for a GK800RB over a WT550...little tweaking required!

I've used WT800, WT550 and a Metro combo over the years. Like all things they are probably out of fashion now. Still good gear. I never had any of the probs some of the later gear suffered. The amps I used would clip a fair bit using a 4 ohm cab and run out of headroom, but with an 8 ohm box they ok. Still way louder than is safe for your hearing, :-).

Just to give a little nod back the other way - I've owned Eden's a few times over the years, and agree that the tone is naturally quite warm and...musical sounding, is how I'd put it. Very versatile.

However, I always felt that they overstated their specifications somewhat - the 500W-ish out of the WT550 left me wanting more and felt like it ran out of headroom before similar amps I owned with similar output specifications, even when I did the usual tricks to maximise headroom. This is in contrast to other manufacturers (eg: Genz Benz, GK) where they're renowned for under-quoting.
I agree with Jimmy, good tone section but totally lacking in power for me.

My 2c, and I know this I going to be unpopular.
I bought the hype around the WT-550.
Worst amp I’ve owned, and I’ve owned a few.
Jack-all headroom, it used to trip the thermal protection during gigs. So much time in sounchecks and linechecks trying to pull a decent sound, and that’s with a P Bass. Shat itself in the short time I owned it (maybe 4 months). Had it fixed and flipped it, and bought an 800RB as fast as I could.

(Edit) come to think of it, WT550 2nd worst. Trace V-series hybrid was the worst boat anchor I’ve owned, but that’s another bunch of stories.
