Just popped in to meet my Berg IP310 and Alpha Omega for a cuppa. Turns out they get along very well. Neighbours think they're trouble though...

I recently acquired a DG Vintage Ultra pedal for ampless/standby/silent practice&recording. It's the best valve tone emulation I've ever heard. Casual listeners would be hard pressed to pick the difference between the pedal and my Traynor YBA200. Really, really impressive kit. Good choice.

They're great - I've been running my M900 into a Torpedo CAB for recording, I can't tell the difference between that and a live rig (except for the fact that the Two Notes are better at getting great recording tones than me).
You're right about the tube emulation, I've A/B/C'd the Darkglass head against a tube head against my Rodenberg Tubestyle OD pedal. Can barely pick the difference between the pedals straight in, certainly can't pick it through a cab. And through the 1000W power amp/IP310 speakers, it is just huge.

I've become increasingly enamoured of darkglass pedals, but so far manage to resist the amps. Hasn't been easy!

I figure buying a B7K and a VMT cost about the same as an amp which has both, so why not just get the amp and have the additional feature of headphone out and 500W @ 4ohms...

The path is bass>Darkglass m500 preamp>ip310 power amp>ip310 speakers
Bass: Sadowsky, Sandberg, Dingwall
Rig: Ampeg SVT VR, Bergantino
Pres: Verellen, Darkglass, Two Notes
Pedals: Tym, Wren and Cuff, Strymon
Studio: Ableton, NI, FabFilter, Two Notes, Shure

Things can get a little out of hand if you don’t take the amp route and end up with pedal alternatives.

I think your amp approach has a lot of upside.

Doesn't necessarily stop things from getting out of hand....
