To my ears they are a more focussed, punchy Ampeg. It's not just the volume, but the depth of tone at low volumes that keeps me coming back for more. It was people like Paul Turner of Jamiroquai and Dave Swift from Later with Jules that started the interest.
Fender Jazz. Fender Precision. Musicman Stingray. Aguilar. Bergantino. MXR. Tech 21.

So I was going to ask on here for some advice as I was tossing up between buying a used head and cabinet, or a new combo. I realised I can't really justify any sort of elaborate set up just yet, and that a head/cab will probably be too loud for practise at home.

So I ended up grabbing myself a Hartke HD-50 down at Scarlett Music in Footscray on the weekend, and so far I love it. Plenty of tonal control, LOADS of volume at least for now (maybe still too much!) and the knobs don't give that cheap feel when turning.

I'll say this tho... The thing stunk like a plastics factory during a high-volume order when I opened the box - apparently very normal for these.

Thanks Greg. She plays great, your old jazz.

the P is a MIM 60th anniversary, in blizzard pearl, strung with flats. That color never disappoints under the stage lights.
