How does the NV412 stand up against the tone from a CN212 (if you have tried one that is)?
I tried out some HDNs (similar to the CNs) when trying out the HDs and my read is that at lower volumes they are pretty similar but when you start pushing them the HDs (similar to the NVs with a tweeter) maintain a bigger, thicker tone, which is why I for one prefer ceramics.

Scored a Trace Elliot 1524 today to go with my Reeves. My ‘rig for all occasions’ is now complete :)

I really like it, to my ears it's better than when paired with the hd212.

Then again, I think the nv412 will pretty much make any head sound good.

How do you find the B-Amp compared with the GK700rb head?
Particularly when matched with the HD212 cab?
Looking at a similar combination and tossing up whether to go GK700rb head or a lightweight amp.
Basses: MM Stingray 5H, MM S.U.B.5, Fender Jazz V.
Amps: Traynor YBA200, GK 700RB-II.
Cabs: MB CL610, Berg HD210 & CN210.

I've used gk for over twenty years, so I guess that has always been my sound.

I struggled and spent a lot of time to get anything I was happy with out of the berg, but now I'm pretty close.
The gk probably still has a little more prescence, but I'm happy enough considering the trade off with weight and convenience.

I find the berg generates a little more boom than the gk when paired to the hd212, but some people may like that. I did a gig with the b amp and hd212 on Xmas Eve, and it sounded really nice out front.

If you're in Melbourne you're welcome to come and have a play at some stage.

Thanks for the response raybass and for the kind offer.

In over 20 years of playing bass (mostly very badly) I've never owned a GK head, and yet every time I've used a GK as part of supplied backline I've been really happy with the sound. The penny has finally dropped so I reckon I'll try and grab myself a GK700rb or GK1001rb for those times when I don't want to lug the tube head about.

But... then I come on to this forum and see all these sweet Berg light-weight rigs and I get serious gas! You guys have got a lot to answer for.

Oh, and in the spirit of this thread, when I get the photo stuff figured out I must post a pic of my current set up!

Gk lightweight heads are great too. And pretty cheap these days. The 500mb fusion is one of my favourites.
