Show Your Pedal Refinish & Rehousing's

Post by MentalPatient » 14 Jun 2017, 19:05

I will start with -
Always wanted a Flouro Orange pedal & a big knob.
Primer, 2 coats of White, 2 coats of Flouro Orange, 3 coats of Clear.
I wanted the knobs further from the foot switch.
Look's good bare.
Just needs text for the controls.
No cheating as to what it is.

I don't know Anthony, it looks more like flouro orange to me.....

Isn't autocorrect a pain!

Some sort of distortion pedal is my guess.
... dial in some "J" to angry it up!

Got gear but little talent!

Yep, I just typed it in again, I wonder what flour orange would look like.

It's a Midnight Holy Mountain.

This was my last contribution:

Has been finished since. Currently off the board working out a possible phasing issue. It was super fun making it though!

The pedal juice is such a shiny thing, somehow it reminded me of the Seinfeld episode where Jerry's super is making fun of his european carry all. I decided to give it a nice blue paint job but first the shiny outer had to be removed. Carefully applying throttle body cleaner I wiped away the shine. Let's do this properly I said so I pulled the whole thing apart to avoid chemicals getting inside.

All done, undercoat and pain I gave it some clear coats, disaster, the spray can was off or something, damn thing coated it in milky yellow. Back to cleaning it up I tried rubbing it away with graffiti remover and a scraper, what a mess. I need this over quick so I bought a litre of acetone for it to swim in. still I had to scrape away at it so I decided to leave it in for longer. I was distracted and left in in for too long, I thought this is stuffed and I'll have to rehouse it in something, Some anger and a sharp scraping spatula later and the deep canyons are dug out.

A week later I go outside and see the failed project in a container filled with some rain water, I picked it up and thought hardcore aged. I reinforced the top inside with fibre glass because that steel spatula came down on it hard, several times. Some gasket goo keeps the delicate switch in place even if some of it's mounts break, I mean break even more, this thing will be glued shut. More to it than that, lid would not fit because of the fibre glass. Had to remove the guts from it's plastic bag and cut down the white plastic sides then glue some bag over the top. Final touches are blue paint in the canyon or what ever you want to call them, then a clean up with throttle body cleaner so the blue ends neatly, I cleaned my hands with it too.

Yes, still work's, voltage and LED are good. None of the electronics were hit by acetone. The LED is on a PCB, it's light travels through the plastic sheet and up small shaft. Switch feels perfect too, the part we press is just a thingy with a shaft that pokes the pcb switch.

Hardcore aged, you could provide it as a service for new pedals.

Nah, I think these have quenched my enclosure tinkering appetite.

Here's my other one that worked out great.
The inconsistencies in the blue is how it look's due to the mix in the spray can.
One day when I come across the right sized bottle cap I'll neaten the white circle.

Different model numbers KBC-9V3E and KBC-9V3U, did you get them from different countries, at different times, or both?
