Guys, does anyone know whether USPS Priority Mail International tracks even after it arrives to Aus? Waiting on a bass that says its arrive to Aus on the USPS site but doesn't track on Aus Post. Posted this at the NewBass waiting thread as well.

You need to call up USPS directly and get them to give you the separate AusPost "e-Parcel" tracking number, which you can then track via the AusPost website. Happens with certain couriers and carriers that do not have local offices. DHL, FedEx, etc use their own locally, but some overseas couriers like Bongo will subcontract to DHL for overseas bit, and then use AusPost for local delivery, so different tracking numbers. Hope this helps.

How long does stuff normally get kept in Australian 'Sorting Facility' for? I assume this means customs...a few days?

Has anyone ever needed to use Paypal buyer protection in the case of a dodgy seller? I'd like to know your experiences. reason is I'm thinking of buying an instrument from a seller with a 99.3% reputation...

Yes. Not an international sale though.. Be aware that you will have to pay for return shipping in case anything is wrong..

Wow, tough standard. 99.3% is actually very good. I mean, that equates to less than one complaint for every 100 sales the seller had made. I'd buy something from a 99.3% reputation any day of the week. Who's to say that the people who left negatives weren't unreasonable nitpickers, or who left a negative because delivery took 10 days instead of the 7 stated by the seller. I've been selling on ebay for 12 years now and I can tell you that there are plenty of buyers who are fruitcakes.

And yes, Paypal will cover your a$$ if a seller turns out to be "dodgy"

So if it arrives with a broken headstock for example, would this mean I pay out of my own pocket to ship it back or could paypal compensate me?

No, that situation would be an insurance claim on the shipping company.

Is that something I'd need to pursue personally or does the seller make the claim on my behalf?

You are the owner, so your claim. The shipping company will need proof you are the owner from the seller, as they will be the person lodging the item.

Has anyone here used shipito to package an item?

The seller of my Univox Eagle is only round the corner from the Torrance warehouse and wants to drop it off personally but has no packaging (just the case).

Does anyone know if shipito offer a packaging service?

I've sent them an email but am hoping someone here has already done similar.
