I had an 80's fretless JB4 years ago. It was a delight to play.

A shame I banged up the fretboard so badly with rounds.

Great basses.... only Fretless I like more than my Ibanez Musician. I had fretboard resurfaced after years of rounds and came up a million bucks.

I play a hybrid string now:
ground along fretboard + rounds at plucking end = best of both worlds.
(can't remember what they were, but Matt from Bass People/Salt Mine put me onto them).
Basses: Fender - Rob Allen - Tobias - Duesenberg
Rigs: Jule Amps - AER - GK - Bergantino - Baer

Nice, mine is kinda similar - only it's got frets and a slightly more browny finish.
It's definitely my No.1 bass. :)
I still haven't done a side-by-side with a reissue, so I can't comment on what the new ones are like compared.

Aren't they also offering a WHITE JB4 aswell? Anyone know?

Yes, white is listed as a finish option, but I didn't post a pic this time because a white one had been posted by someone previously.
