Awesome, I've always wanted one of these. Can I ask what's the weight like on it out of curiosity?

There's still a rosewood board one in muso' s...but I'm a sucker for birdseye haha, I'm at a gig with it at the moment but I'll weigh it later, it's definately lighter than my Warwick though

I had an '87 just like this.. It was the heaviest bass I have ever owned. I loved slapping on it. Like this one it had a beautiful birdseye neck.

So the sabre weighs 4.6kg, in comparison
Sandberg - 3.8kg
Fender - 4kg
Bbne2 - 4.5
Warwick - 5.1

It sounded pretty damn good, mostly used it in the all 4 coils or full rear and single front coil position, had that signature musicman growly tone to it, was having a close look at it and there is soooooo much lacquer on the fretboard that it acts as a ramp up to most the frets

I won't say that's heavy ... for musicman. I think my SR5 is up around 4.9kg. It is heavy but just sounds great and I have to use a super wide DSL strap (5" padded), which I've just gone looking for online and it would appear they don't make them anymore - should have bought two :cry

I would love a 5 string sabre...

Nice Heath, what was your thoughts or motivation for picking up a Sabre? I love mine and tend to run it on the backup as well. The Sabre seems to get ignored compared to the Stingray and Sterling.

Cheers

i tend to like basses just that little left of centre, ive always wanted a stingray 5, but good ones seem to be quite rare, there was an all black neck through stingray 5 at musos corner where i bought the sabre but at almost double the price of the sabre, it just wasnt worth it, the sabre was more comfortable and sounded better to me

Cool bass Heath, even if it's a bit of a porker at 4.6kg. Having said that, I would still love to have one. Enjoy!
