Bass friendly stores in Sydney?

Post by JuliansPostie » 18 Apr 2018, 09:17

I'm heading to the big smoke for the first time in a while and was wondering if there are any good places to check out bass gear while I'm there. :poke:

As a former Sydney boy, I second Soong's apology
* 2 Stingray 5's (one heavily modded), Ibanez SR805, Ashbory, + more...
* Carvin B1500, Epifani PS1000, Ashdown Superfly amps.
* Lots of DIY neo/lightweight cabs including one made from composites http://www.ozbassforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=2546

I saw some Duesenbergs at Wild Horse Guitar in Surry Hills. But it's a small store.

I know the feeling. The best stores I have found here is Guitar Brothers (stocks Fender, Yamaha, Cort, Xotic and second hand ) on Latrobe Tce and Music Express (Fender, EBMM, Spector, Warwick) in Mt Gravatt. Tym Guitars is great for second hand basses and effects.

Any other decent stores here?

Probably something to do with the terrible weather. The UK has several, too.

Bass Gear Direct as others have said and Turramurra Music is worth a look too.

The shop in Crows Nest -- Big Music? -- seemed to have a lot the day I was there. Wild Horse is always shut when I go past. Presumably Allan's is still open. There are Guitar shops in Annandale and Pete's Music Mart in Newtown for secondhand. There's a Fender specialist in the city but no idea if they have many basses.
