Bill Lawrence P-Bass Information?

Post by billybass » 13 Apr 2018, 12:20

Hi All,

I recently bought a Bill Lawrence P-Bass. I set it up, it's a good bass, I am after any information about the bass.
My friend Phill Knight has Bill Lawrence Strat guitar and he said he know's that Rick Price has one as well.

I tried the website and sent an email, but to no avail.

Cheers Bill

^^ I think you are correct. I recall a dispute between the family and former business partner over the use of his name in connection with pickup manufacture
MTD Heir 4 Lefty with Nordstrand and Bartolini pickups,Genz Benz Shuttlemax or Magellan 800 , Zoom B3 and a Roland GR-55 into Schroeder or Bergantino cabs

There are a few versions of the story floating around the web. Have a read of this one first:

And then see how much of the 'other' side of the story you can swallow:

It seems like a pickup genius and a business genius needed each other and worked together well for a while, but then worked not-so-well together. I'm pretty sure that OBL pickups were another of their brands.
