NBD!
Road trip to Sydney this weekend, picked up this guy -

It's an early 2000s MIM Jazz V Deluxe
Interesting bit of history (to me at least) behind this one - turns out this was the workhorse bass for a young gentleman who's heading to London shortly to play URB with the London Philharmonic(!)

It's definitely in workhorse condition, the strings are finished, frets have some wear, and it needs a good clean and setup but the bits that matter are all fine. I'm having doubts about whether I'm going to start chopping into it so soon though, I'll give it a good run of gigs first I think.

After starting out with a used bongo 5, I moved to a used spector rebop 5 DLX, with upgraded 40P5/40DC pickups and the 35" scale, I'm really quite happy with how it has turned out, and it fits me better than a Schecter 35". Unfortunately now I'm slowly moving in the direction of Dingwall, with an NG2 multiscale.

See if you can find a Spector legend classic 5 you can drop a nice BQC system and active EMG40 pickups into. The whole package should be inside your budget. They're a bit less nice feeling, but a perfectly reasonable platform, and you if you get it used, you can probably flip it to pick up a rebop 5 DLX (and shift the new pickups and electronics with you)
