That's quite a quiver you've got there. Very nice. Do you have a favourite?

You must be a blue/teal colour fan! That MTD Norm Stockton Saratoga is a beauty mate! I'm actually after the MTD Norm Stockton 535-24 (hopefully will get this year :D). And the finish on your Lakland and Alpher looks beautiful. How does the Alpher sound? Never seen it before!

Cheers,
Alex

Hi guys, thanks for your compliments!

I ordered the Alpher bass last year with them already have an idea what to spec it with. I just let them do what they wanted to do... My only request was a maple board and neck.

How does it sound? This might sound crazy but I think the output is much louder than the MTD NS bearing in mind that the MTD is with a 9v preamp and the Alpher is all passive! I have it wired with 4 way rotary knobs.

Position 1 = bridge coil
2 = both coils on parallel
3 = both coils on series
4 = neck coil

I can get pretty much any tone I have in my head!

I actually just sold the MTD last night to fund a 5 string Alpher build with similar specs. Only much much lighter than the MTD. I really loooooooove the MTD but it's a tad heavy for me. So I was really sad to see it go. :( But my shoulder complains everytime I play a heavy bass.

And for the Lakland, it was originally coloured teal burst and I had it refinished by Jaydee guitars last year to that shade of blue (my own choice). It turned out really good!

Very nice. That's some interesting pickup balancing on the P there for sure! I assume it has raised pole pieces on the A, but why not the D... odd.
