Anyone need to test out the Grunt... again?

Post by Cave Passive Pedals » 24 Oct 2014, 22:07

Hi Guys,

Have had a few enquiries about testing out a Mini Grunt before purchase, which is fine by me. So, the question is... would anyone be interested in a quick "mini" tour?

This would also be open to those who have been involved in the past tours but have long forgotten the tone and drive that the Grunt puts out and are considering a purchase.

Same rules will apply as all the other tours that Mark has organised.

Cheers
Heath

Remember... this unit works best with passive Jazz or Precision pickups, but you may find, like some other players, that your active pickups work fine (depends on circuit).

I will do something special for this Mini Grunt... I have designed an overdrive compression. This will be added to the existing DRIVE control, and when fully clockwise, compression will be switched ON (instead of clean).

Will commence construction next week.

So if the compression is fully counter clockwise, will the unit still work as a normal 2-knob grunt?

The DRIVE knob has three settings:- fully counter clockwise is normal Grunt overdrive, rotate clockwise will back drive off down to zero, and then last stage (fully clockwise) will be overdrive compression. You'll see when you try it, it's simple to use.

I thought I'd add this feature because it sustains the overdrive and low level notes will activate the overdrive easy, whereas the Grunt's normal drive is more a "dig in harder=more drive". Depends what you're after, I suppose, but the option is there.

Hi Guys,

The ODC-01 (Overdrive Compression) has been constructed. There will be no more of these pedals made in the "mini" form (1590a casing), so whoever buys this at $99 will not only be receiving a one off, it will also be a bargain.

Better mention that the LEVEL control works as normal (fully clockwise is max. vol.).

So, who's up first?

This mini tour starts next week. Please remember to use registered post.

Shaun (dagwood dawg) is up first, who wants to be next?

I would really like to hear of your thoughts on the overdrive compression switch/circuit... good idea, or very bad idea?

Thanks Guys, for putting your hand up for this one!
Cheers

Yes, sorry, please send via this new "tracking" thingy, thanks.

Hey Mark and Eden, is there a chance you guys can check out the new overdrive compression switch/circuit on this Mini Grunt, too? As you already use Grunts when performing, or recording, your views would be priceless.

Cheers
Heath
P.S. Mark, how'd that "cover band" go last night? Did they play your most famous song, (I Can't Get No) Satisfaction? !!
