Hi guys,

ID Pedal is currently on its way to rodl2005 in beautiful Hobart. Registered and insured.

My thoughts: Tried the pedal through a couple of basses (MIJ '87 P and my newly acquired '05 Marcus Miller Jazz - thanks Marshbass!) ... As I prefer a much more active/hot sound, the pedal wasn't really the right fit for me.

It would work wonders for the discerning player who wants to add a bit more spice to the Motown/60s style of sound if that's what you go for.

Having said that however, I really appreciate the opportunity; it's things like this that make this Forum worthwhile.

Cheers Heath and the rest of OzBass.

Hi Guys,

Don't like being the man with the whip but it looks like this tour has derailed a tad.

Any chance we can get a review or two, and the whereabouts of my precious design?

Thanks Guys
Heath

Sorry guys. Moving house all this weekend. Posted the pedal late last week. Review incoming.
For now. ....
I liked it. It 'warmed' up my tone. Gave it a squidgy soft tubey edge. Nice amount of drive when on full and the nice comp type squidgyness always.
More tomorrow. Sorry for delays just turned out that removalists had to come today. ... Things everywhere. Hard to type a decent amount via ph.

Right. ... I'll try this and save drafts as I go. ..

I got the INDUCTION DRIVE early in the week and so have it a run at "home" thru headphones (via the Shuttle 6.2) with the amp eq at 12 in each Knob and all filters off - & I immediately noticed how it
softened my signal-not in volume but by giving it a slight compression and tubey warmth. I can do this do a degree with the Shuttle's eq and gain but the pedal have me 2 distinct tones. Great!
As it's passive I wasn't expecting the pedals eq to give me much ams this is basically right but what it does give is very usable.
I took it to a rock gig in a pub with the Walkabout head into a Bassman 115 neo cab.
I really liked how the pedal gave me a thick almost gooey tubey sound when the pedal vol was about halfway. Turning up to full gave a nice drive and some warm compression.
I had 2 basses with me. A P with Tapes and my AC Jazz 5er with rounds on.
With the P it gave the old school rock numbers a lovely round motown vibe that overdrived (??) when I dug in by was nice and tubey when played softly.
Sure the Walkabout IS warm and can overdrive itself WITHOUT the pedal but I had it set to be clean and just got drive from the pedal.
The drive is a soft buy crunchy  almost like a slight power tube OD. Definality not like a buzzy or fizzy type fuzz.
With the Jazz 5, the new rounds gave it that 'piano' like quality, which was fine for some songs, the pedal gave it a more even edge with the same comp and slight drive added. Very cool. With this bass, I had it set up with the hi's on half, the lows on full and volume on 3/4. Again a nice old school vibe with a tasteful drive if I dug in.

Next gig I used a RW-P with Labella tapes and a 94 Stingray 5 with Elixir coated rounds into my Fender Super Bassman 300w tube amp into my Bergantino NV412.
It was the same story wroth the P bass. I had the volume on full and lows about 3/4, hi's on full. Again. . Dig in and a crunchy drive that was great to leave on the whole time.
Using the Ray 5 - I dialed back the hi's to half and the vol to 3/4.
It added a really nice warmth to the Ray 5. Softened the ray's hi's and seemed to add a little comp too which again gave it an old school tubey warmth.
I already had a deal of tubey warmth with the SB300 but the pedal's effect was noticeable. And in a good way.
As I'm not a real solid pedal user I didn't get to try this with other drives or fuzz pedals. Tho I did use a EHX POG with it. This is where I liked it best altogether.
It softened the POG's effect, while not at all lessening it. Made the upper octave seem to blend more.
When I kicked the POG on under a solo, it let me sit in the pocket and riff more seemlessly than before. Sometimes the POG can stand out a li'l too much when there's no rhythm guitar etc. .. when I used the INDUCTION DRIVE with it I was able to have the octave up effect on a li'l higher without it standing out like a Beacon.

All in all I really liked the pedal. My amps are generally warm and tubey anyway, I rarely use transparent type amps these days but I'd think the INDUCTION DRIVE would go really nicely with the Mark Bass, Tec Amp & GK type amps (I know, I shoulda tried a gig with my Shuttle 6.2. I didn't, but I did at home thru headphones and thru a EV TL606 cab. As I said with the Shuttle & phones, it worked a treat)
I hope the next ppl checking out the pedal have as much fun with it as I did.
Thanks for the opportunity to try it out.
And. .. Sorry for the delays both with the pedal and I this review. Moving house is a total messy time- especially after 20yrs in that house, a marriage break up and that I ain't actually living anywhere full time at present.
Hard and busy and congested time. :?
Phew. .. After 8 drafts. .. Finally get to. ..... Post this. :D

Thanks for the review Rod, I'm looking forward to receiving it.

Did I read somewhere this works much better in an effects loop of an Amp rather than in front? My Main interest is hearing the Induction Drive with my GK MB800 driving my Eden 210xst cabs. I've got a gig on the 20th of this month, but I am unsure of the venue at this stage so not sure if this rig will work.

Looking forward to having a play with it!

Cheers

What a great review!

Sorry to hear of your losses. I can fully understand what a tough time it must be as I have/am going through the same situation. Music seems to be the only thing that gets me through (oh, and my motorcycles).

Thank you very much for a wonderful review.
