Venue contact / Location guide.

Post by LimeB » 02 Sep 2010, 14:04

Alright, thought it would be handy to list venue booking / contact details etc, so OBFers can plan tours , out of town gigs etc.
I will let the moderators know, they may want to modify it, or maybe delete it if it already exists here. Might want it sticky as well. That would be good.

So some of the Bendigo venue contact numbers

The new market Hotel 5443 3042 - The Newie is a medium to large sized venue, great old fashioned pub. ( hard to fill, but young metal bands do it easily) mostly originals or Blues - Contact Dallas or ask for Roy for the blues sessions. PA provided, as can the mixer be arranged. Usually a guarantee (plus the door if you want.) Also has open Mic every Thursday night, some Sunday arvos.

The Basement Bar - is no longer running.

The Pub - 5443 4079 (ask for Steve I think) Hargreaves st Bendigo near the Old Bowling alley " Dragon City Lanes. Huge venues, have a mix of covers and originals, some bigger tours.

Golden vine hotel ( Mark and Liz ) (03) 5443 6063 - Medium / large venue. For 20 years this was the heart of music in Bendigo, they are putting bands on again AND OF COURSE the legendary Tuesday Night Jams again too. p.a. there.

Goldmines Hotel - Hosting excellent Blues, Bluegrass and folk, as well as the local Bluegrass Jam, Uke club, and some soul, has small rooms/ cellar, and a great ( big ) out door beer garden area. Please check this great pub out if in town.
49-57 Marong Rd
BENDIGO VIC 3550
Ph: (03) 5442 2453 Roy or Justin are the contacts. natalie@goldmineshotel.com

Gold Dust Lounge- venue underneath the historic Shamrock Hotel, http://www.facebook.com/groups/golddustlounge check this one out too!

The bridge http://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Bridg ... ts&sk=wall

Bendigo Blues and Roots Music festival 2011 http://www.facebook.com/pages/Bendigo-B ... 592?ref=ts

Bendigo live music guide ( to see what's on in all of central Vic and promote your gigs) Mel and Tyson http://www.facebook.com/pages/Bendigo-L ... 2210780799

I think if you are just starting out and want to suss the places out the open mics are a good time at the New-market and the basement bar. They are also the best places to start out.

what about the hopetoun hotel in Bendigo :rolf:
coffin near the stage, push the bain marie to one side
skeletons hanging off the ceiling, it was like playing in a ghost train.

Golden vine was always good.
had good stage and set up.

The Hopetoun lies derelict and is up for sale if you wanna take a golden opportunity.
Would you paint over the Graphitti? Naaaaa.
That place always reminded me of a bong shop, and it was weird using the kitchen as a band room.

Sticky'd it for you, guys. Like all the more utilitarian threads (feedback, substitute register), try and keep the off-topic content to a minimum so the thread's a bit easier to navigate :)
