I’m heading down to TAS for a week on Sunday and I’m looking for some suggestion for good live music venues and some good music shops? Any suggestions peeps?

Always check out Soldas in the city when I am down there, which is as often as I can, saw a bass ,asked the price, they did not know. :banghead: Couple of others over the road.
Salamanca on Friday at 5.30 ,down an alley and outside has an amazing thing going for a couple of hours,Best vibe I have come across in years, free ,and cans are real cheap, band was great as well, said hello to the young bass player, fine job he was doing,

Is the Republic Bar still hosting live music? Used to be the busiest live music pub in Hobart. Rod should pop into the thread at some time and confirm.

Rolling Stoned | The Volts | Doors Alive | Bonza | The Vinyl Beats

Basses: Nash, Fender, Ampeg, Cataldo, Duesenberg, Greco, Ibanez
Rig: Fender, Ampeg, PJB

Endorsing artist: Fender; Cave Passive Pedals

Yep Republic is still going. Brisbane Hotel has more indi style stuff usually on the heavier side. Sadly not much scope for original music in this town... depending on the night... The Grand Poobah in Liverpool St ... cuppla fb pages called... musos of Hobart town (I think) &, once you get to that page you'll find a few others that ppl link gigs to.

I just bought a bass from Top Shelf Instruments. They are online second hand dealers (mainly Japanese basses) but you can contact them to go around as try instruments.

I was waiting to see how long it took for Rod to chime in!

Thanks for the suggestions guys, I won’t be bringing a bass with me so I’ll be itching to play and check out some music.

In the future it looks like I may go down for a few months at a time,if and when that happens I will buy a nice jazz bass to leave down there, when I am not there I have no problem someone using it.
