Wow....migh have to whip out the P bass and have a crack at this myself. Will definitely be challenging :cool:

He uses a BOSS OC-2 Octave pedal for the last section, just a little bit of -1 Oct to fatten it up.

He's using TI JF's on his bass = easy to smoke it up like that with those strings. Might have to slap a pair back onto one of my P basses. :D

I also believe he tunes one of his regular basses down to Eb to give that extra growl.

That'd be this P he uses with D'Angelo on Chicken Grease. I thought it was tuned down to D, heavy gauge strings.

Check out the DVD live" 3 ways" JM Trio KILLS it , then the big band cones out and steps it up again , the bloke is a freak.
