Whatsapp?

Post by JMAN » 11 Sep 2014, 00:00

I've been getting messages from forum "members" with one post wanting to buy my Bossa. They're asking me if I have "whatsapp".
I smell a rat big time!
Anyone else receiving supposedly dodgy messages?

They'll want you to use whatsapp. I'll add that whatsapp is a paid app.
Poorly typed English. Or is that just kids today?
They never call, their email in no way matches their name, and they want a quick sale. I'm not prepared to sell to someone with only one post and no info in their profile.
I'm just trying to make others aware.

I received a dodgy email claiming to be from whatsapp... went straight to my junk folder (which I check from time to time). I usually then go to the application/website and NEVER reply to unsolicited emails. The best way is to also quickly do a google search and you will find links relating to whatsapp scams. I also search for phone numbers that are unsolicited that appear on my mob from time to time - so much scam/intrusion these days into people's lives...

I used to get heaps of scam contact through my gumtree ads - usually via sms and requesting email contact.

it doesn't really matter what platform is being used - I always insist on a phone call if the sale is firming up.

Good luck!
