Reeves Custom 225 WITHDRAWN

Post by kodou » 04 Feb 2018, 08:00

[*]I picked this amp up a bit ago as I have always wanted to try out a Reeves however I have realised that I primarily play dirty all the time and between my Darkglass and my Orange I have this covered in spades.

The Reeves is a really amazing sounding amp. Really solid lows and glassy highs. It is a clean sounding amp which does break up however it has a load of headroom before it starts getting filthy.

Runs 4 KT88 power tubes and outputs at 8/4/2 ohms. I have seen reports that the power output is approximately 225 watts @ 8ohm, 256 watts @ 4ohm and approaching SVT territory at 2ohm.

http://www.reevesamps.com/wp-content/up ... tom225.pdf (<- Review written before Reeves added 2 ohm output)

It's 24" wide so sits comfortably on top of a fridge or the Ampeg SVT line.

The amp is currently being serviced by Jereme Clingan but should be back in my possession within the next week. Nothing being repaired, just a general look over (cap life, tubes etc).

I'd be looking for $2,250 or would consider trades especially for a Musicman Bongo 5 or maybe an Ampeg V4B with cash my way.

^ Only the Reeves is for sale.

Probably not what I am after unfortunately.

I'd be leaning more towards higher end 5 strings or other smaller tube amps + cash.

Just watched Roger Waters playing through a couple of Hiwatt 200 heads. Reckon I might keep this after all :)

Incredible. Couldn’t fault it.

Roger also has two custom built Hiwatt 8x10 Fane cabs. Sounded huge.
