FS: Ashly SC40 preamp $150 (PRICE DROP)

Post by JMAN » 22 Aug 2015, 20:11

Ashly SC40 solid state instrument preamp that sounds like a channel strip. Very clean sounding. Parametric EQ. 1RU rack space and rock solid.
I had it imported several years ago and converted to 240 volts but still has the 2pin US plug. I'll add in the Australian adapter. A couple of the silver knob centers are missing... don't expect a brand new looking unit because these things went out of production in the early 80's.
I've used it heaps and also a few times as a DI at amp-less gigs and the sound guys love it too. Supposedly it has a better DI than the BP41?
Pair it up with drbass' Yamaha power amp and you'll kill.
I'm happy to answer any questions about the pre you have.

I have an Ashly BP41(bass preamp) , so the SC40 is gathering dust plus I'm trying to raise funds for a light weight head. Pics to follow asap. $150 + shipping.

Kinda tempted to get it myself ;) .

No, not really. My next priority is to build a fEARful 12/6 and see how that sounds, quite happy with my amplification.

GLWTS, JMAN and thanks for the pitch :) .

Michael

Ah, these are great! I kinda regret selling mine a few years ago. I remember the manual came with instructions for wiring a few diodes to a jack and plugging it into the effects loop for "smooth distortion".
Upright, P-bass, old strings, lots of treble, no tweeter.

I do. But it's my go to these days hooked up to my combo for Cafe gigs. It's an absolute Swiss army knife.
I'll have to have this withdrawn.
