Acme Low B2 and B2W for Sale or Trade

Postby Chog3000 on 20 Jul 2010, 16:50

Hey y’all,

I'm selling an Acme Low B2 and Low B2W (the subwoofer version of the B2). I'm looking for around $1250 for the pair, or I would consider a trade for a 410 such as Epiphani, Markbass, EA, Bergantino, etc.

The current prices new are: for the B2 - $1,350.00 and the B2W - $1,050.00 so $2400 all up

They're great for 5 string, and were designed with the low B in mind (hence the name), you'd be hard pressed to find a cab that sounds as good that low.

Keep in mind that Acmes are VERY power hungry and as both cabs are 4 ohm your amp will need to be able to handle a 2 ohm load. I wouldn't recommend anything under 1000 Watts to run them both at the same time.

Here are the specs for the B2 from the Acme website:

Model: Acme Low B-2 Series II
Frequency response: +/-3 dB 41Hz to 22 kHz -6 dB at 31 Hz
Power Handling: 350 Watts RMS continuous
300 Watts sine wave @ 30.87 Hz
Sensitivity: 93 dB 1W/1M
Impedance: 4 ohm
Dimensions: 23"H x 15.75"W x 16.5"D
Weight: 50 lbs / 23.2 kg

Specs for the B2W (the subwoofer version, which is essentially the B2 without the midrange driver and tweeter) from the Bass People website:

SPEAKERS: 2x 10"
POWER (RMS): 350w
IMPEDANCE: 4 ohm
FREQUENCY
RESPONSE(Hz): 32-1K
SENSITIVITY(Db): 93
DIMENSIONS(cm): 58/40/4
WEIGHT(KG): 23

And the piccy:
Image

There is some wear (but not heaps) which is purely cosmetic and this does not effect the performance of the cabs in any way.

The Acme website also has a lot of great info about their cabs – http://www.acmebass.com/
Inspection can be arranged in Ashfield, Sydney.

Let me know if you've got any questions and I'll be happy to help.

That is a shame, I've not tried the Epifunky series, only really the ULs with the Epiphanis but would have been interested to check it out

I'd say it's a lovely time to take a holiday in Sydney (and come back with twice as many cabs :))... but that's a lie, it's just cold here...

Bumpity bump
Great for versatility, small to medium gig... just take the one. Need to rock out... crank them both

After some thinking I'm probably looking more for sale (just $1250 :yep ) rather than trade but would still consider a trade

Soooo tempting - but don't have the cash or a 410 for trade :cry . Anything you might want as a trade or part trade (I've got some spare amps and preamps I'm not using). Feel free to pm me.

Hey vege, sorry, I'm pretty set amp-wise at the moment (unless what you're willing to trade has got "Ampeg" written on the front and has tubes in it :p )

Hmmm, I was afraid of that. I have an SVT 2 (non-pro) but I think I might hang on to it for now. You had to choose the only amp I wasn't willing to let go!

Bump (don't you hate it when people keep bumping their own stuff?)

Still available and I'll through in a high five with the purchase

I'd consider selling the B2W on it's own, which would be a great extension cab but wouldn't work so well as a stand alone cab since it doesn't have the midrange driver and tweeter, but I'd rather not sell the B2 by itself first as I'm not sure that there would be as much interest in the extension cab alone.

Free bump for a good guy
I bought Steves upright bass and I saw one of his cabs and at a glance is looked pretty much brand new.
I had a really easy transaction and Steve was very freindly and went out of his way to be available with my ever changing schedule

If my transaction was anything to go by Steve really looks after his gear and was very honest pointing out the smallest details to make sure I knew as much as he did about the bass

bass is going great to by the way
cheers

Thanks for the bump Paul. Good to hear the upright is going well, hope you're taking good care of her and getting your upright chops back quickly.

Just a bit more propaganda about the Acmes:

As for quality of parts and workmanship - "more expensive in terms of both parts and labor than SWR, Trace Elliot, Hartke, Peavey, Ampeg, Eden, etc." - Acme website

"If you’re a 5-string player, you can now fully realize the potential of your instrument thanks to a speaker with incredible speed and tremendous power handling. No longer will you have to forsake your lowest half-octave for the convenience of a compact enclosure. Nor will you need to carry a second, larger cabinet to produce low frequency fundamentals that you can feel as well as hear." - Bass Player magazine reviewing the Series I B2 back in 1996

(These are Series II, they only brought out the Series III a couple of months back)
