[WITHDRAWN] Ken Smith BSR5GN Quilted Maple

Post by swalexbass » 26 Jun 2018, 16:27

WITHDRAWN, because the item which I was trying to fund by selling this has been sold. Thanks to everyone who made offers and sorry to those who I was scheduled to meet this weekend.

Hi Ozbass,

Up for sale/trade is something very special - my beloved Ken Smith BSR5GN with super upgrades. Please note that I may change my mind at anytime and withdraw the sale.

Basically, this is as good as a bass will get in terms of craftsmanship and quality. I look at it everyday and it still blows me away. It's in pristine conditions, I would say 9.5/10. There's no cosmetic issues that I'm aware of. And the best of all, the tone. Perhaps the most unique tone in the bass world, it just cuts through the mix like butter while providing deep, growling fat lows and absolutely transparent highs. Very distinct punchy tone with that traditional Ken Smith "burp" in the mids. It's just really really nice!

This bass is up there in the very high-end of the Ken Smith basses spectrum, so it is not cheap. If one was to buy this bass new, it would cost 6,200 USD (~8,300 AUD) for the bass alone, without the customs duties and shipping. So overall, you'd be looking at ~10,000 AUD for a new one, plus a year of waiting period.
5600 USD (Base Model Price)+200 USD (5-piece Body Upgrade)+400 USD (5A Highly Figured Quilted Maple Top Upgrade)

I will set the sale value at 7,000 AUD firm, in original Ken Smith hardshell case with case candy included. Please make your offers by PM only, but feel free to ask any questions in the comments. :yep

Specifications and photos are below. Thanks for reading, and enjoy your day!

Here's a short video clip of how it sounds like (bass boost, mid and treble left flat - using parallel pickup setting)

Thanks man! I'm just putting it up for sale because something I really want came up for sale. The Fodera is probably my favourite at the moment. It just feels so comfortable and very well balanced tonally.

Wow, if I am correct so far you've sold a NYC Sadowsky, a MTD Saratoga and now a Ken Smith. Whats next a Ritter or a Alembic?

I was mainly interested in this one, but I only realized yest morning that it had been sold almost immediately after my sale post. I was also interested in some MTD and Roscoe but the sellers were not keen with international shipping. :(

Does that convert to AUD9K? Good looking bass. But would be similar to your Monarch Standard?

Yeah quite similar. I wouldve sold/traded my Monarch afterwards if I landed that. But i guess it all turned out ok in the end.
