WTB: Warwick fives, Thumb, Streamer

Post by dingdong » 19 Apr 2018, 17:15

I'm currently gasing for a Warwick 5, Thumb or Streamer in particular.

Interested to hear what is currently out there and available.

There's currently something on eBay which has my attention, but is priced waaaaaaay too nicely to be true, so I thought I'd look here to see what people are asking to see if this guy is trying to scam.

I’m on the fence. I prefer 5 but not 34 so I’m interested too.

Im interested too see valuations at this time

Im hesitantly on the fence on selling my thumb bass atm.

Not too stray 2 far from topic, but i would be looking for $2100 for my limited edition bleach blonde 4 string thumb bass if i were to let it go, for some sort if reference guide.

Its 2003, and in great condition given its age.

Kinda hard comparison to use, i guess, due to the nature if the custom shop materials  Its a hard one

At the risk of putting this up there for someone else to buy, this is what I'm referring to - What looks to be a standard Thumb BO 5, with a 2007 build date. But the asking price is *only* $1600. That seems way too low to me, but having said that, I know very little about Warwick basses in general.

I agree, but again, to my limited knowledge, that sounds like a very decent price for a limited edition.

Seems legit to me. $1600 is really good but not crazy enough to make me question it.
Strings: Fender, Framus, Warwick, MusicMan, Custom
Knobs: Mesa, MarkBass, Fender
Patch: TC Electronic, Aguilar, too many to list

Actually, I'm curious. Why no interest in corvettes?

I have no reason to not be interested in Corvettes, but I’m really feeling the Tradie Prog vibe at the moment - Karnivool, Tool, Dead Letter Circus, etc. and Thumbs fit that aesthetic. I also just really dig the look of the streamers, and played one at the Bass Centre in Melbourne and fell in love.

You’ve caught my attention. Can you send me a couple of pics and your desired price?

That is a great price for that Bass; funnily enough it's actually been for sale for quite some time now. I have no idea why, but Warwicks seem to have the worst resale value of any commercially available Instrument that I can think of, which is unheard of considering their build quality.

A little while back I traded another Bass for a Corvette $$ Fretless, & I've really taken to it; so much so that I'm seriously considering offloading my Spector to fund a $$ 5 String. They're out there; I've seen Warwicks that would set you back the best part of $4-5K on the market for around $1500, & yet they're just not shifting!

So yeah; if you're considering a Thumb, I'd jump on that one.
BASSES: Spector; Fender; Yamaha; G&L; Alembic; Ibanez; Jerry Jones; Danelectro; Rickenbacker; Ergo; ESP; Kraken; DeArmond.
AMPS: Acoustic; Ashdown; Ampeg; Eden; Epifani; Markbass

I'm pretty sure that ebay Thumb has been for sale on here previously. I remember the story about the broken tuner.

I’ve bought and sold about 40 Warwicks in my time so far,

Price range depends on model

German BO - $800-$1500
German NT – $2000-$3000
BO Custom Shop – $2000-$3000
NT Custom Shop - $3000 +

That thumb is about right at 1600$ but ive seen them go for as low as $800. Nothing dodgy or "crazy" about that price at all.

Secondly, I wouldn’t ever pay $200 postage! Basses can be posted anywhere in Australia for $50

Ive got this CS for sale but it’s a 4… you can always tune BEAD right????? ;)
