FS: Yamaha BB1024X - Caramel Brown Price Drop $700

Post by harmdogs » 28 Mar 2018, 18:13

Up for sale is my beloved Yamaha BB1024X in a very red "Caramel Brown". A brilliant passive 4 string PJ bass with extremely hot pickups in it. Bass is in decent condition, with general playing wear on it. I'm the second owner of this bass and there is some buckle rash on the back from the previous, which I tried to capture in photos. .Currently strung with Fender 4050l flatwounds but will include a set of Ernie Ball Slinkys with the sale in case the new owner wants some rounds. Weighs in 4.32kg on the kitchen scales. The bass will also come with the Yamaha gig bag which is probably the best OEM i've seen.

Here's a link to Ivan (Classic5) playing some tasty grooves on one if you want an idea of the sound of the bass.

Selling to fund a double bass purchase, if you are based in Sydney and keen to trade for double bass I'd be keen to listen, otherwise, Looking for $800. I'll have it up here for a few days before it goes to Gumtree/Facebook etc. Would prefer a local deal around Central Coast/Sydney/Newcastle but could ship at sellers cost.

Serial number is HQY293135 so looks to have been completed on 29th November 2010, making it a tad over 7 years old now.

OMG I love these basses. And the Caramel Brown ones are the rarest of them all. Bargain price for an awesome bass. I'm almost tempted myself and I have two of them already, so NO.......better not go there

And yes, the OEM Yamaha gig bag is terrific.

If you're after a fat sounding and versatile passive PJ, this will be the best $800 you've spent. Put some D'Addario nickels on it, 45 65 80 100 and you're away. I've found it needs the E to be 100 so it sits in the nut properly. Makes a big difference IMO.

Haha, i was hoping you'd pop by Ivan, your youtube videos with yours were what sold me on one in the first place, and it hasn't disappointed! Since getting this one I've sold off all my other basses and only have Yamaha's now. Great value for money in every price range.

I agree with Ivan, I love that colour. I have the bb1025x. Just great build quality and the bridge pickup is super burpy - ceramic pickup I believe.

Dropping the price down to $700 now. Still preferable to something local but could do shipping if necessary.
