[Sold!] MTD USA Saratoga 5! Final Price Drop $3100!

Post by swalexbass » 30 Oct 2017, 08:38

Hi Ozbass!

Here's something that's different: MTD Saratoga 5 USA made by the legendary luthier Michael Tobias. The Saratoga is Michael Tobia's take on the J-bass, and he has done a mighty fine job at it. It is light weighted, and the neck is beautifully crafted to allow smooth playability. The bass is in pristine condition and well looked after.

Tonally, It is the most well balanced bass I've played and it has a super rich, deep voicing while delivering plenty of punchy mid as well. Its outstanding evenness across the entire scale demonstrates its sublime quality of craftsmanship. Even at extreme low and high registers, this bass just sings. This bass produces the modern, hi-fi sound with a lot of subtle growl that is unique to MTD basses. It is an extremely versatile instrument and is like a Swiss knife of a bass which can cut through any musical situation.

Specifications:
Body: Swamp Ash
Neck: Maple
Fingerboard: Rosewood (34" scale, 21 frets)
Finish: Natural with catalyzed urethane finish
Hardware: Hipshot (black)
Pick-ups: Custom wound Bartolini J's
Electronics: Custom Bartolini
Controls: Volume/Passive tone (stacked), treble, mid (push/pull, 400/800), bass, pick-up select, active/passive switch

Spoke to Michael Tobias via e-mail and he told me that this bass will cost 5100 USD (~6600 AUD) brand new. Price is $3100, which is a very good price for a USA made MTD.

I'm located in Sydney. Offers via PM are preferred, but feel free to ask any questions in the comments. Thanks!

No dramas, you can just opt for a trade only if you like, up to you, as long as every listing has a price.

Lovely bass that, I wish I could afford it myself :cry

Looking to trade for a Ken Smith, F-Bass, Roscoe or another MTD even. Of course, based on the superiority of the model, cash can be added from either party on top of the basses.
