Hey Bro, in no way did I mean any offence. I found your statement funny because in average circumstances the listed basses probably would be an upgrade and also because I own a Ken Smith and can fully relate if I had to try and move it. Best of luck and if you were nearby I would be soooo checking this bass out! (the YouTube vids of this model look killer).

Thanks man. Yeah it's a really nice bass. What Ken Smith model do you have, just out of curiosity? Ken Smiths have such a funky tone, I would love to own one someday :) But they're rarely up for second-hand sale, and that alone says a lot about their quality already.

Hey Swalexbass, I was lucky enough to grab a BSR4MW on a random ebay bid. It's a 4 string bolt-on with a tiger maple top/back and a black walnut core. Seriously the best sounding bass I have ever owned! I knew close to nothing about KS basses, like as you said, not many around. But what I have discovered is every adjustment you make to the pickup blend and tone knobs make a huge difference to the sound. By itself the bass sounds great but what I have found is that in a mix with other instruments it sounds awesome!

My only complaint (which is purely my problem) is that the neck has a standard radius and the string spacing is 19mm . This is probably fine for most players but my last bass which I played for over 10 years was a custom 5 string with 18mm string spacing and a thinner jazz bass like neck. I find after 2-3 hours of playing my hands are caining but I guess I will have to adapt to it. Regardless of the pain I just can't get past the tone! Pretty much every pickup setting you dial in sounds brilliant and different. If you ever move to Melb we could suss each others basses out. Cheers.
