This is a true clone though i'm happy to say the sound of the electronics is pretty good but the tremolo system is still a piece of crap.

I remember the neck and fretboard being really sweet, vintage frets?

Talk about tight string spacing, what did you string her with?

Whats the neck width at the nut?

Yes vintage frets, from memory nut spacing is about 38-39mm, pretty tight indeed and its strung with Fender Bass VI strings

@acmeman, THE REELS first album eyh? I'll find and listen to them and see if I'm good enough to follow it.
I nearly dropped my iPad when I read that you want me to be a "stage bass tech"... I can connect your bass to your effects then to the amp then to the speakers, even easier for me if you have a combo and that's the extent of my ability and pretty much everyone here in the forum knows how to do it . I'll see if I'm free in your next gig, if I am I'll bring the Bass VI, feel free to pm me or even post the details here (if it's ok with the moderators?)

Just noticed it has 1 meg pots thats why its a bright little beast. Its funny how memories are about instruments, I remember taking the bridge cover off as the foam had perished so I'd palm mute but to get the action low the little saddle screws stuck out and they were SHARP.

Talk about shred the palm .. gaffa soon fixed that.

Probably why fender won't stock, everyone prolly took them off during the, "Its not cool to have bass covers on pups and bridges in the 70s".

Man... I'm a little chatter box this weekend. Going to have to get a girlfriend to play with and take me out

Actually, the tremolo stability is quite good compared to the Strat trem. Shame about the shallow break angle though - I shimmed the neck so I could raise the bridge a bit higher, and deepened the low E string slot a tad so it's less prone to popping out when playing hard. There are after-market string retainers & saddles designed to fix the issue too, but if it can handle my abuse it should be fine for anybody

She's home! I can't believe I have a Bass VI now! I'll bring it on our next Sydney GTG, hopefully I'm not working again on the day. Now trying to save for a Street Triple hehehe. Oh no, this should be in the off topics but anyway I have a Mailloux Bass VI now! Yipppeeeeeee!
