Yeah there's probably way too much R&D that goes into it, every builder tries to outdo everyone else, whether that works who knows. The bracing pattern is a typical J-45 pattern and its real typical of the majority of acoustics out there if you look at bracing placement on most guitars. I spent a lot of time going through the Kent Everett voicing DVD and the Robbie O'Brien voicing videos on his online acoustic course and that was the best thing I could have done, there's a huge difference in sound between an over braced top and one done just right. There's no way I could have done it without those videos, I would have had nothing to compare it too, hearing the differences and seeing it in a video is a 100 times better than just reading it in a book or onlineKirBass wrote:Looking awesome Phil, what a magic sunburst! Going pretty trad with bracing etc - lots of R&D in bracing these days. Making me feel very guilty about my acoustic build still being on hold since the birth of my now 20 month old second daughter....it's the 80/20 rule...but beautiful work Phil.
Check out the O'Brien videos when you get around to voicing yours. Just buy "The Top" chapter, it'll do wonders to the final result, at $30 for it its well worth it.
