Bass>Head>Mixer without cab plugged? LM2

Is it fine to do so? I've been doing recording every week and I don't really want to bring the cab around (its beefy) everytime I go for recording. I asked some people and they said it's fine, but just want to confirm. The head is Markbass Little Mark 2.

With solid state heads like the LMII that's fine. It's only some specific tube amps that require a speaker load to be connected before being switched on.

Dude - with that bass you have now, for recording, you probably don't even need the head!!

Thanks kerry, fortunately i'm happy with my sound and don't need to spend 1500 for a preamp. :)

Just dont want to get the fuss over gears and start playing/gigging.
