Evan Marien - Bass Jam and Interview!

Post by stonecoldbass » 02 Mar 2018, 15:05

Hey folks!
A few weeks ago Virgil Donati came to Melbourne to play a run of shows covering the music of the late, great Allan Holdsworth and he brought along the amazingly talented Evan Marien as his bass player! If you don't know who Evan is I suggest finding his youtube channel and checking out some of his performances, especially those with drummer Dana Hawkins.
As well as lining up an interview with Evan I was able to help organise some private lessons for him with some Melbourne bass players, those lessons were a great insight into his approach to technique and harmonic language, I suggest checking out some of his lesson content on Scott's Bass Lessons and stay tuned for a book in the near future!
If you'd prefer not to be sitting in from of your computer for an hour to watch an interview, subscribe to the audio only podcast version for this and all the other interviews I've done via Apple Podcasts, Stitcher etc;!
Here is a little jam we shot before the interview:

My pleasure mate! I just want to keep putting out content that I would be interested in watching, and in turn hope that the rest of the bass community dig it too!
I'm a self confessed bass geek, so I''m pretty on top of youtube and instagram stuff, as well as good ol' bass player magazine. Bird's Basement are bringing out a lot of great acts that would never normally make it down under...
Thanks for the support, feel free to share it around and leave a review for the podcast!!
