Someone's getting a bargain. I think I sold mine for $700 a few years ago (similar spec, though mine was 4 ohms and neo).

I'm pretty sure this was posted in the previous thread but this is a great deal for a brand new Big Al.

I'm surprised how long this one has been for sale. Seems like a lot of bass for the money? I guess the pointy looks have turned people off.

Description not matching the pictures doesn't fill me with confidence sight unseen. Maple board and matching headstock, one a plus one a minus for me.
Strings: Fender, Framus, Warwick, Custom
Knobs: Mesa, MarkBass, Fender
Patch: TC Electronic, Aguilar, too many to list

1964 Jazz on eBay in Australia.
Interesting that the headstock is painted white- any St George supporters born in '64? The back of the neck looks dark in the pics.

"NO BRIDGE COVER, BRIDGE COVERS WEREN'T PRODUCED FOR PRECISSION OR JAZZ BASS AFTER 1963"

That doesn't sound right to me. And you can see a mark where the bridge cover was screwed down. Hard to tell but might even have been painted over. And the back of the neck definitely looks like it's got a coat of something on it.

Yeah, noticed that too. I was dubious. Here's a pic of a claimed 64 showing the screw holes clearly. There are plenty of pics on the net suggesting bridge covers were fitted at some stage. Maybe they weren't shipped with them fitted- who knows?

Seems a bit light on relevant pics to prove authenticity considering top dollar and then some IMO is being sought. The body top coat is in amazing condition, if original. I would want to see some pics of the neck pocket and body with pickguard, control plate and pickups removed. I think until late 64 Fender was still putting a few small tacks in the body (under the pickguard) to assist painting. Also postage is steep.

He does say that it's Fiesta Red over Olympic White. Of course, that means the Fiesta isn't original, as Fender wouldn't have shipped it with no matching colours.

No idea about the back of the neck. It could be that all the lacquer wore off and somebody put a clear coat over that. It looks too consistent to be just dark m arks from wear though. No surprise he doesn't really show it.

Greg, the description does say
CUSTOM COLOUR FACTORY PAINT, FIESTA RED, OVER, OLYMPIC WHITE,
.
I have my doubts about factory overspray over what is already a custom colour- but stranger things have happened- I have seen some markings in the body of some that indicated it was a factory job, but can't recall what they were.
