Bass Lessons Melbourne 'Player Profile' Podcast! *2 NEW EPISODES!*

Post by stonecoldbass » 30 Jul 2016, 09:49

Hey guys,
As some of you may know I've been running a YouTube video series called 'Player Profiles' where I interview working bass players to get the lowdown on their thoughts and views on everything from gear to practice methods. I've been lucky to have a ton of great local players as well as some industry pros like Tim Lefebvre and as you can imagine there's a lot to talk about with the videos regularly running in excess of 20 minutes which is too long for most people to sit and watch. So, following the advice and suggestions of a number of people I've decided to start releasing the interviews as a Podcast series so you can now listen to it in the car on the way to a gig or whatever.
I decided to launch with one of my favourite interviews featuring Janek Gwizdala. You can check it out on iTunes: https://itunes.apple.com/au/podcast/bas ... 1139082231
Podomatic: http://basslessonsmelbourne.podomatic.com
Please subscribe and review if you like it and let me know if you think there's anything I can do to improve the series.
Thanks!

Yeah! I've been really getting into them lately, great way to pass the time on those long drives to the gigs in the country haha. I remember about 8 years ago when Janek started doing his own podcast which grew into a paid video version and I think that really helped raise his profile in the bass community. After that it seems like podcasts fell out of favour for a while but they're definitely back with a vengeance! I enjoy Scott's Bass Lessons, I'd Hit That, This American Life, Serial and the No Treble podcasts

That is absolutely MEGA!

One of my all time favourite bass players, although it does my head in when I watch him play that 6 string upside down so I just have to close my eyes and listen. You've done well Craig

EDIT: A small gear rundown would have been nice....or maybe I missed it. I see on the vid he's still playing Roscoe basses after temporarily moving to different brands. And playing the new Wayne Jones gear at Birds Basement.

We did talk beifly about gear, he's still using his Roscoe but also uses MTD's in the studio and he's hooked up with Trickfish amplification in the states which is Mike Pope and the the guy from SWR ( I think), although he did have good things to say about the Waynes Jones rig.

New video interview just posted, this time featuring Francis Hylton from acid jazz powerhouse Incognito! I was fortunate to catch up with Francis at the Caloundra music festival and he was super cool and giving of his time. It's my pleasure, slow learner! I just want as many fellow bassists to get to see these interviews as possible, so if any of you feel like spreading the love and either popping a review of the podcast up on iTune or liking and sharing the BLM Facebook page Etc; I'll be very grateful and will help inspire me to keep going!

Re: Bass Lessons Melbourne 'Player Profile' Podcast! *HADRIEN FERAUD!*

Post by stonecoldbass » 05 Feb 2017, 12:14

Hey!
Latest edition of the Bass Lessons Melbourne Player Profile series is now live on YouTube, Podomatic and iTunes and features the incredibly talented Mr. Hadrien Feraud! This is one of my favourite interviews to date as we discuss some really interesting topics like the impact of youtube on the current bass community, Jaco, being a sideman/solo band leader and much more. If you are enjoying these interviews I would greatly appreciate any support you can give by either writing a review and subscribing on iTunes or podomatic, subscribing and commenting on YouTube and sharing in your social media network, I really want these players thoughts and opinions to reach as much of the bass community as possible! Thanks, Craig
