4 guitars need 4 basses on the other side to balance the stage. How did they all compare "in the wild", Michael?
It's all about balance, Owen, all about balance.

I had three less strings than the guitarist but a lot more bottom end ;) . I did play them all but of course it's overkill, all I need is either the Q or the Manta (or, once the balance issue is sorted, the latest Kermit). I use the gigs as a "promotional opportunity" for my basses, and I get a lot of people ask me about the basses so there's some raising of awareness, all I can ask for at the moment.

Regards,
Michael

For a few hours on the weekend at the Thredbo festival I believe I was one of the highest musicians in Australia:

Then back down in the Village the next night for the festival closeout with the Women of Blues and Soul Showcase:

I'll have a few other photos when I get my mitts on my daughter's phone later. As well as some cracking gigs (5 in three days for me) I got to see some great players, and even better got to jam with some as well. I played in Wagga the night before the festival and I drove straight from that gig (2am finish) through the night to Thredbo dodging roos, wombats and feral deer (those things are everywhere). I missed both the feral cats that I saw. Was fun to see an owl in the middle of the road eating something. Anyway I'm back home now, my hands, ears and strings completely buggered.

Ah it's a life, that's for sure. More to come.

It was an awesome festival! Great to meet you, Mike. Thanks so much for doing that last show, you’re a lifesaver - extremely unlikely I would have survived the 9 hr drive to Tamworth on 3 hrs sleep.
