Great bass playing BUT song is very dated

Post by BassLine » 12 Feb 2018, 20:17

Got any songs with great bass lines but the song is very dated??

Trawling the 'net and found this cool slap bass line from 4min 20secs onwards. It seems 1978 was a bit of a no-mans land musically....

Basses: Fender - Rob Allen - Tobias - Duesenberg
Rigs: Jule Amps - AER - GK - Bergantino - Baer

I’ve played that one back in high school. It’s fun.

I did a slap bass solo (instead of drum solo) in this song with a Big Band I was in. LOTS of fun. :partydance:

18 million horn players, the only cool piccolo in the world and some poor unfortunate sound tech up the back trying to balance it all out and prevent the power amps from melting.

:help

I've always loved this little piece of slap bass. Some early 80's funk complete with vocoder vocals just to add to the "datedness" (apologies to all the Daft Punk and Bruno Mars fans for the vocoder comment:)
