Thanks, the whole process has been such an enjoyable experience. If all goes to plan it should be finished this coming Saturday.....NBD :) Feels like the end of an epic journey, or is it just the beginning?
I think you know the answer to that... and the side effects are all over this subforum. Run! Run! There's still time to escape!

:rollno:

Nope, it's too late. Fill your garage up with tools, timber and hardware. You're stuck here for life. :yep

Nice Ivan,

It has a certain "F-bass" kind of vibe going on, which is a very good thing in my opinion. This going to ROCK!

Thanks for the kind words guys. I'm pretty excited about finishing it off on Saturday, it's really surpassed my expectations BUT we're not finished just yet. The credit really goes to David Searle and Rob Pryke who guided me through the whole process over what's been almost a year (working on and off).

Amazing looking bass Ivan. Looks like a bought one!!
Matt, the finish is on par with anything I've seen. David Searle is the master of applying nitro......there was no way in the world I was going to do that part :notworthy:

Thanks Phil. I think my comment above answers your question. David did all the spraying in the spray booth at the MSGM workshop. The photo was just taken with my cheap LG phone. It still looks good in the photo but is just exceptional in real life. It's a nitrocellulose lacquer finish, topped of with three grades of polish. It looks and feels wonderful.

So, where is it? It was promised to be ready today ;) .

And what is the plan for that nice piece of timber (some sort of burl?)?

Regards,
Michael

Hey Michael, I spend the day in the workshop today.......pretty much all day, and the bass is indeed ready. It's far exceeded my expectations. So thankful to Dave and Rob for everything really.
Unfortunately I had to do some work work this evening and haven't had a chance to upload any photos or do anything else. Will post tomorrow for sure. :partydance:

Well.......we are done :D

I'll be posting some more pics in a NBD post later today, with details of specs and a very short video for anyone interested. David and Rob, you are both incredible. I was hoping for something this good, but there was always a risk that I'd stuff things up along the way. David and Rob have this unique ability to stop you before you make that mistake. I'm so grateful to both of these guys and everyone I met along the way at the Melbourne School of Guitar Making. If you can.....GIVE IT A GO!

Here we have it, Classic Build #001. All strung up and ready to rock.
