Man, that was quick! Looking good, and love your shoes, too ;) .

"Conventions" are for conventional people ... .

Ok I’ve got a decision point. This body was going to be version 2 of my headless multiscale 7 string guitar but I have a spare Delano Xtender and Gotoh 4 string bridge. So the question is short scale bass or stick with the original plan....

I can't even make my own decisions.....not to speak of making someone elses

BUT.....I am one for sticking to the original plan wherever possible. Even if it's not a bass....did I just say that 8/

I’m the same that’s why I asked :)

It’s over thick at the moment so before I thin it to size I thought I’d ask. I’m going to try and find a more efficient way to radius the body. I really like how that came out with the fretless it was just a monumental amount of work

Same - right now I'm not the best when it comes to making decisions.

Alternative suggestion: how about a 4 string "shorter scale" multi scale bass, say 33-30" (or shorter, e.g. 30-27)? I think that would work aesthetically ... .

Regards,
Michael

It was put together as a multiscale so that would work .... 30-27 bass VI ... I’ve been talking about doing a bass six for ages

I was going to say with the body shape like that multi scale would look great, and I’ve never seen a multi scale shorty bass so there’s your unconventional quota for the build too.

Question is would you do a e-g or a-c if you were doing a 4 string

27-30” scale could be either I guess. Baritone to bass vi is just a string and nut change away.

My 6 string is 31-33". That short enough for you? :)

Look up the Ibanez src6. It's like a bass vi but leans more towards a bass with both body shape and electronics

LOL, I have to say, I think for B strings, you loose all the advantages of multiscale one you go under about 32-33" on the lowest string. If you're suggesting a 5 string with a high C, then I could see a 31-29" would work well. You are almost in bassVI territory then though.

Looking at the stewmac fret jigs they have a 30”-28.5” which I thought I might buy as a gauge so I don’t have to measure. I’ll still manually cut it

You'd still need a new bridge to go multi scale, but the Delano 4 (I assume) should work still. I'd be very interested to see a four string A-C at that scale, I also think an E-G would kick certain kinds of butt too.
