Forum Donations

Postby Phil on 01 Nov 2008, 22:30

I didn't want to do this but it looks like running a forum is a bit more complicated and expensive then I thought :?

I'd like this forum to start on the right foot and be extremely stable. We've had problems with slow connecting speeds a couple of times and there's the persistent problem with the forum cookies, that one is an inherent bug in phpBB, the free forum software used here.

I'd like to be able to raise enough money to buy a commercial forum software license such as vBulletin which is used on TB. That at least comes with decent support and you'd expect most bugs to be ironed out. I'd also like to get a better faster reliable webhost.

All donations are voluntary. I won't put in any restrictions on supporting or non-supporting members. I do appreciate donations though and supporting members will have a "supporting member" group ID.

Please forward donations to my e-mail adress:

philmailloux(at)yahoo(dot)com

You may pay with Paypal or direct deposit, e-mail me for my bank details.

vBulletin's one year subscription is $100 USD, I'd be happy if we could raise another $100-200 AUD for a better webhost.

Hey Phill,
Great idea. I find in life everything is more complicated and expensive than what you originaly think it is. When I first started playing I thought all I needed was a bass and a loud amp and I would be set for life...

With those sort of figures I would think that if everyone was to put in a few $, say 10-25 we would be sweet. PM me your bank details and I'll send some your way on payday.

Cheers,
Nigel.
Arrived: Mailloux Custom "Lucky 13", Peavey 6 string bass, SWR Baby Baby Blue, Mojo-Sonic 1x10 Ext cab, Sadowsky outboard pre.

Guys, let's all support Phil with this.
A little bit each should'nt hurt, but will make a world of difference to Phil.
He just may be able to keep his hair a little longer.
Great work Phil.
