DOUBLE BASS Mini-GTG Sydney - anyone interested?

Post by BassLine » 03 Jan 2016, 12:11

I've been keen to do a Double Bass GTG for some time. A quieter day than the usual GTGs is needed.

Looking at strings, setups, pickups, mics, preamps, amps, cabs, etc., so not everyone will need to bring their DB. As we all know, you can't just walk into a shop to do this!!

It'd be good to listen to and compare several amplification setups, A/Bing them & getting an overall impression of what's out there. Plus a good Ol' chinwag about DB stuff.

If we can get 4-6 people together on the same day that'd be really awesome.

So... who's interested? :poke:

Sounds like a great idea.
I mostly play electric, but do a few DB gigs and some doubling so there are still some mysteries.

i don't play DB but I've always been curious. I have nothing to contribute but I'd be interested in attending.

Great idea. It's so hard to test pickups, strings and preamps without spending massive bucks. I have quite a collection of preamps now!

Yeah pretty much. :hmm FDeck, Meek 3Q, Headway and an Empress Para EQ which can be used on its own with a piezo. But I will say - the one gadget which has made my audibility better than all of the above is my humble speaker stand.

Yeah, na. I won't be up there. If someone could lend me their Tardis I'll pop by. :p

+1 to speaker higher. Had the Baer ML112 raised on a 1m high stage behind me and I could hear my intonation clearly with the 15-Piece Big Band.
