Re: Sabbath 'the end' Sydney 23 April

I was really tempted but saw them last time about 3 yrs ago so gave it a miss. I may live to regret that but glad to hear you had a good time.

Re: Cleaning Maple Fretboard

I did some research in to this when I was cleaning up my rosewood board p-bass. Everything I read suggested not to use any oils or cleaners on maple boards, ever, as it'll interfere with the coating.

Re: What have you PLAYED on bass today?

Played along to a few songs off Died Pretty's excellent Doughboy Hollow album.

Then The Walers' One Love - such a great bassline. It grabbed my attention ages ago thanks to Bill Laswell's dub remix album where's it's isolated. Almost nursery rhyme type of pattern, great fun to play.

Re: Show us your gigs.

Last Thursday we played a private function for Facebook's Sydney crew at Riley Street Garage: http://i584.photobucket.com/albums/ss288/maxgroover/Mobile%20Uploads/4CA7FB01-530F-4DC2-9542-4864D96A3E2E_zps5toatjdh.jpg The brief was Sinatra vibe jazz, low key and cruisy. So I just brought my upright. ...

Re: Introduce Yourself

^^ Welcome Ian. Great to see there's a life in music after retirement. With balancing my work and home duties sometime I reckon I'll have to wait for retirement before I get a chance to play as much as I want

Congrats RedVee. I may be in a similar situation myself soon so I've enjoyed following this discussion. First up I will have to justify the expense of course

Re: What have you PLAYED on bass today?

I was in the music room setting the intonation on my bass and mucking around when my 9yo son (who plays bass in his school band) came down with his bass and lead unexpectedly. He wanted me to help him play some of his band pieces but since I can't read sheet music on bass very well I wasn't much use...

Re: What did you Buy or Sell in 2015?

Not much for me. Bought a '91 MIJ P-bass. It had gold hardware, so I searched around online and have purchased chome bridge, pickguard screws, tuners, knobs and covers.

(I was supposed to sell my L2000 tribute to buy the above but my wife seems to have forgotten, so I might too :ninja: )

New tuners for MIJ p-bass

I picked up a MIJ p-bass a few months back. It's great but had all gold hardware, which I'm not a huge fan of, so I've spent the last few months sourcing and buying replacement chrome parts. All good, but with the tuners I couldn't seem to find any with the same screw spacing for the backing plates ...
