Re: New Flea Jazz Bass

Interesting fact I just found out while reading about this bass........Flea (Michael Balzary) was born in Mount Waverley, Melbourne. Just a few suburbs away. Sorry....nothing to do with the bass, just an interesting bit of trivia. yeah, apparently his father was a diplomat. Don't think he lived her...

Re: torn speaker cone

Finally got a chance to do the repair last night. I found the below video mentioned on Talkbass: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hSbTbuZ-55Q Quite helpful but I made a real mess of the gluey tissue paper a couple of times. Will do the other side tonight then test - hopefully it'll keep the ol' fende...

I can try, but phone is my only camera and pics are terrible :(

I was considering a strip of fibreglass lightly coated in resin, but that would probably be too heavy compared with the rest of the cone.

torn speaker cone

Hi all, just looking for a couple of suggestions on repairing a torn paper/cardboard cone. After removing the speaker last week I accidentally touched the outer edge with my thumb and it's created a small tear. A fellow bass player at work said he's fixed a similar one by sewing it up and applying a...

Re: Recommend me some instrumental music

^^ Yep. working with home made equipment with primitive 4-track recordings in the ghettos of Kingston - with bullets flying around just outside his home studio. Amazing. (I think he might have been killed in a gang crossfire shooting?)

Re: POLL: Sydney GTG 6th or 20th August?

West Pymble's just down the road for me so might be able to get to this one. Not sure I have a lot to offer gear wise though Doesn't matter. Come and check out the cool stuff others will bring and more importantly, put some faces to names and user IDs. Yeah, sounds good. I'll definitely aim to be t...

Re: Recommend me some instrumental music

I use dub reggae for that. No vocals, lots trippy, spacey sounds and effects. Try King Tubby, Lee Perry and Scientist for early Jamaican dub.

Re: What have you PLAYED on bass today?

Getting ready for a get-together in a couple of weeks so ran through Walking on the Moon, Sweet Child o Mine and Gimme Shelter last night (then got sidetracked by my bass' poor setup and ended up spending most of my time fiddling and intonating :) ). Gave it a much-needed clean too
