Re: 2 band MM preamp

and as far as other ic chips "should be fine" . . well, I dont know anything about electronics,
but my bass had /801 LM 4250CN written on the chip.
If I were to attempt to reproduce that preamp, I would get one of those , they are still available, if you look , but not at Jaycar .

Re: 2 band MM preamp

bassbass, It does seem different, yes. But I dont speak circuitry, so one of the guys I have sent the diagram to, would most likely be more qualified to give you a definite answer. Mine was hand drawn by one of the guys in Engineering at 2GB in Sydney (back when they actually made all their equipmen...

Re: 2 band MM preamp

Bassline, scroll up a bit for a link to a page that explains all the stages of MM preamp. Depends which early MM tone you're speaking of. . . The '76 is still a mystery . . I know of one person (top executive at seymour duncan) who, years ago, actually manged to strip and blueprint the original '76 ...

Re: Marcus Miller's NEW BASSES - Sire Bass

there are a ton of demos and reviews on youtube of this model, the 4 string and the double humbucker model that has series and coil splitting switches for each pickup( The Ash/Maple versions obviously do the best "marcus" tones IMO . . and even the fretless is damn good, although the preamp is proba...

Re: 2 band MM preamp

ok, i'll start digging . . .I've been dragging it around for 40 years in a folder thats here somewhere. Its kinda amusing, because I had 2 Stingrays at the time, and I knew that my '76 was a very early model, and had heard the epoxy preamps did NOT get replaced anymore . . they werent made anymore, i...

Re: Bass Blueprint plans help

I believe the CAD option is sound. You could then get some crucial templated you will need done (for example) at a laser cutting facility. You could (if needed) CNC any part or parts if needed. Its by far the most accurate and versatile. CAD speaks in thousandths of an inch. . . Us poor ol' humans c...

The commercial equivalent is a product called 'de-solv-it' . . brilliant stuff . . from Bunnings and other joints.
