Re: Plek setup

Anyone in Perth do Plek setups? I'm curious to try it.

Re: Show us your gigs.

A couple of weeks ago at the Ellington, in Perth. Performed Clapton’s 461 Ocean Boulevard album in it’s entirety, then a set of other songs associated with Clapton. Full house - not bad for a Monday night.

That’s Bill Blissett on Keys.

Vale Fats Domino.

Just heard Fats Domino has passed. He is the musician that really got me started. Yeah I was the weird kid in 1st year high school that was diggin' seriously on the music of a black piano player from New Orleans.

What "easy" songs are busting your chops?

I’m charting out the Carole King song Smackwater Jack at the moment. It’s straightforward, but a couple of the runs are busting my 'nads. Not the actual notes, but getting them smooth and sitting in the song. I’ll get them, it’s just a matter of over 'n' over 'n' over... Just idle curiosity - any of...

I've got a Fralin 10% overwound split coil in my '54 reissue and it thumps nicely.

Re: Android software for sheet music, lyrics, etc.

MobileSheets looks like definite contender. I've downloaded the free version and had a bit of a play. I'll give it a bit more of a look later tonight.

Re: Android software for sheet music, lyrics, etc.

My eventual plan is to see which one works best/simplest for my needs and use that one exclusively for gigs and strip all the other software off.

Android software for sheet music, lyrics, etc.

I've been using Onsong on my iPad for my lyrics, but just got a Samsung tablet and I wonder what software you guys use for your music. Ideally it would handle lyrics and sheet music, with the ability to import Word .doc, ,jpeg, PDF, as well as create and charts easily. Doesn't need to handle notatio...

What's this rhythm phrase called.

Is there a 'correct', or even common, name for a bar of two dotted quarter notes followed by a quarter note. Basically the first bar of a 3:2 Clave. It's so common, I'm sure there is a name for it.

Re: Limiting on a budget

Another vote for the LMB-3. Excellent value. I also have a couple of ancient Alesis Micro Limiters which, if you find one, should be real cheap. I paid 50 bucks for the two. Only drawback is the weird power Alesis power supply. One of these would be on my board if they took normal Boss power (I hate...
