Re: Political Coverage By the Media in Our Country - PART TWO

Wow, the PM and Deputy PM are at WAR! What a friggin joke!

Shorten has gone quiet. I hear he had his own "getting the office girl pregnant" drama several years ago, so that would explain that (if true).

Re: Question about 'Gain' and 'Master Volume'

The manual for the MB Fusion 500 says the same thing ie start with Master at 3.00. The Fusion 550 manual is different and says; Input and Master Volume Settings: Set the master to 12 o’clock then gradually increase the Gain control to a comfortable listening level....... Hmm, MB 500 and MB500 fusio...

Re: Question about 'Gain' and 'Master Volume'

I'd be curious to find out if there's a sweet spot engineered into that particular amp with the master at 3 o'clock. There isn't, because not all basses have the same output from their pickups, even if they're passives. It's just a suggested starting point. Fair enough, but it is an unusual startin...

Re: Question about 'Gain' and 'Master Volume'

I remember this coming up as a hot topic on TB many years ago. They're seemed to be a small army of folks over there who were running the master at full (or close to it), then using the gain to adjust SPL. It appeared the guys with PA systems and sound engineering backgrounds started it because, wel...

Re: Stingray 3 band eq mods.

Hmm that's interesting. The removal of the LPF seems to introduce plenty of everything between about 7K and 13K, so no wonder it sounds scratchy. I'm liking the look of the 2.7n cap. Smoothes out 4K, which is what you wanted. But it also seems to give it some extra in the low mids at 300Hz or therea...

Re: WTB - cab freq range down to 30hz

I expecting Bill Fitzmaurice to chime in here soon. Horns have a unique characteristic whereby combining more than one has the same effect as increasing the size of the horn mouth. This actually increases the frequency range. The bigger the horn mouth, the lower they go. And because they are a high ...

Re: WTB - cab freq range down to 30hz

I think what Tim is trying to say is that producing those low frequencies is pointless if you can't get them loud enough to compete in a band situation (nominally 100dB). Car audio and HiFi subs can hit 30Hz without too much trouble. My DIY home theatre SUB is -3dB at 30Hz. Sounds great at home, but...

Re: Great bass playing BUT song is very dated

I've always loved this little piece of slap bass. Some early 80's funk complete with vocoder vocals just to add to the "datedness" (apologies to all the Daft Punk and Bruno Mars fans for the vocoder comment:) "Hide and Freak" by ConFunkShun! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i4LAzTaL52g Oh and of cour...

Re: WTB - cab freq range down to 30hz

Has Schroeder switched to B&C drivers? The last time I looked inside one was a 1210 (non-neo) and it had an Eminence Delta 12LF and an Eminence 10" (exactly which escapes me right now). I thought Markbass were the only ones using B&C across the range. But as always, I could be wrong and things can c...

Re: WTB - cab freq range down to 30hz

FWIW, I'm yet to put a commercial cab on my test bench that actually hits the frequencies as claimed. Some companies exaggerate more than others, and I'm afraid Eden were amongst the worst I came across. That's based on my tests of the XLT range. I've not tested the XST but not ears tell me the low ...

Re: Can a faulty lead "Scream"? EDIT- no it can't. Preamp Problem.

This sounds very much like what happened to my Musicman stingray. .very simple cause/solution in the end. http://www.ozbassforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=21955 I just read through that thread and yes, it sounds like the same problem. Changing the battery clip is pretty easy, so I'll give that a go. ...

Are Acme still around? They were good for 30Hz.

Hope you have a high wattage amp?

Re: Can a faulty lead "Scream"?

Oh man, if I start with the magnifying glass, I just know I'll end up having to force myself to refrain from just re-soldering every single joint to make sure I don't miss anything.

I guess I'll just crack it open and if there's something fairly obvious. If not, off to the local tech ......

Re: Can a faulty lead "Scream"?

Ok it's not the cable after all. It did it again during sound check for the gig. I swapped to the spare bass and no problems since. It's the bass! Ozrider, so you reckon preamp?
