Re: Cricket 2017/2018

Check out this ginger leggie bagging 8-for against the Poms in the U19 World Cup final. Sangha's catches at slip were fab as well. https://www.cricket.com.au/video/lloyd-pope-wickets-australia-england-u19-world-cup-quarter-final/2018-01-23 And by night I hear he's the lead singer in a Simply Red tr...

Re: Blind test: MusicMan StingRay 2004 vs Cort GB75JH

Roll in a touch of the Jazz and you'd get that missing phatness from the ray. I think this is why I like Sandbergs with an MM and P setup to roll in that tub. Not bad Cort! Your tapping into what makes my P-Ray so darn good. Each pickup sounds great on it's own, PLUS I can get all sorts of tone var...

Re: Blind test: MusicMan StingRay 2004 vs Cort GB75JH

Do Cort offer a 4 string version Pete that does the same sound? After hearing this, I'm tempted if there is a 4 available Yep, the GB74JH. http://www.cortguitars.com/en/product/product_view.asp?qCate=00003&qSeries=128&qProdTag=&qPack=&qNew=&qKey=all&qWord=&idx=1181 I'm not sure if they're in Aust y...

Re: Cricket 2017/2018

Mark Taylor nailed it in commentary. It was deemed "Out" by the onfield umpire, so the video ref needed "conclusive evidence to overturn the onfield decision". Yes the best cameras angles were blurry, but Ray Charles would have been able to see it hit the ground. At the end of the day, Eng have outp...

Re: Blind test: MusicMan StingRay 2004 vs Cort GB75JH

Damn you guys are good. Over on TB, this went on for 9 pages with votes split very evenly. Then a flame war erupted over Stingray 2 Vs 3Band eq :) Eventually the results were revealed and there were more than a few very red faces. You all nailed it. * No 1 is the Cort * No 2 is the Stingray. But I'l...

Re: Cricket 2017/2018

Hmmmm... am I just a cranky old man or are others starting to question what Davey Warner is doing? Oh wait a moment, of course I am a cranky old man. :) Well I'm certainly starting to question what the 3rd umpire is doing. How can you possibly give Steve Smith out when the ball is clearly hitting t...

I think the MM is second and the Cort first.
Any chance you can describe what you're hearing?

Blind test: MusicMan StingRay 2004 vs Cort GB75JH

Here's one for the Stingrays fans. This appeared elsewhere on the interwebs so it's not me playing on the recordings. Can you tell which bass is being played on which take? For the record, the Stingrays 5 was recorded with on board eq set flat. The Cort was recorded in passive mode using the humbuck...

Where was this a few years ago when I was putting together a pedal board that included the amp? Sure there are plenty of lunchbox heads that would do the trick, but the shape of this amp would have worked better.

Re: Sterling Ray 34 help needed

Good result. That poor bass has been abused, so you might have to be extra nice to it to make up for it's rough early life. Is there a musical instrument version of the RSPCA?

Re: Cricket 2017/2018

Eng leading 2-0 in the ODI series. Who'd've thunk it? Their batting looks very good, and who the hell is this spinner they've bought it (Rashid)? He's great, much better than Moeen Ally. I didn't get to see Alex Carey bat, but it sounds like he went well. I liked the look of him behind the stumps. I...

haha good story Pete ! I just tuned in, what happened to Paine? Injured or just on the keeper merry go round?
On a merry-go-round, but not the one you're thinking of. He's got that gastro bug that all the players seem to be getting.

Re: Cricket 2017/2018

At my last job in Sydney, I used to deal with a Financial Planning office in SA where I regularly swapped emails and phone calls with a young bloke who was playing 1st grade cricket and AFL. He was trying to break into the state cricket team, and from memory was also on the verge of signing with the...

Alex Carey 100 in 54 balls for Adelaide Strikers tonight, with 22 runs in one over. Great to watch.
Hmm, T20 hey? Well at least they've stopped picking players for the test team based on their BBL form .......
