Re: Allans Pitt St Closing

Is it closing down? Or is the sign out front because the shop is actually called "Closing Down Music"? Feels that way .....

Re: Line Array PA

One of these days, I'd like to design and build one of these, but voice it specifically for bass guitar. Basically take this idea and the Genzler array cabs, and take the best of both worlds to make a killer bass array that sits up near your ears all times. One day........

Twin 2 likes to do regular stock-take
Under instructions from the missus, I bet!
Ha, actually no. I financed all of my purchases from gig money, and you'd have to say I've earned a lot more than I've spent so the wife is OK with it.

Re: What do your kids think of your basses?

My eldest twin thinks I really need to buy a dark pink bass. She's a big fan of "the crooked one" (Dingwall Nolly in Hot Pink).

Twin 2 likes to do regular stock-take and of course it's all done by colour.

They're only 4 :)

Re: I Will Survive in G? I said No.

I used to sing "Takin' Care of Business" in A, but was never happy with how the bass sounded (same reasons as I Will Survive, too up-and-down). We only used to do it when a particular guy was in the audience, it's his favourite, so it was a rare one, not worth changing. Fast forward to a new band w...

Re: I Will Survive in G? I said No.

Give it one more shot, but try this:- 1. Don't listen to it or play it in A beforehand. Fresh ears in G - because that's what the crowd will get. 2. According to the chart, the tempo is 116bpm. Try it at 120 bpm instead. Only slightly faster. Sometimes this works after a key change downwards. BTW, I...

Re: Using a cab as hifi subwoofer

I recently got myself a hifi - a 70s HK 330B with a pair of Bose 301s (Series II I think) Elevating the speakers reduces the bottom end a lot. Would it be feasible to use a bass amp cab (15 or quad) as a sub? Would it just be a case of soldering a 1/4" jack to a speaker wire? I googled the HK 330B ...

Re: Political Coverage By the Media in Our Country - PART TWO

Interesting story from the ABC. This leak is a bad sign for Turnbull and Bishop. But bad luck does not account for the absurdity of its claim that Labor had been party to an international conspiracy with its Kiwi counterparts to bring down the Government. According to ministers, this was a strategy...

Re: cctv with 2 laptops

Assuming you've already got wi-fi, then Skype will do the trick. Facebook's messenger app will do if from your phones (and probably from laptops though I've never tried it). At my last job we used Teamviewer software, but that's overkill if there's only 2 people connecting.

Re: I Will Survive in G? I said No.

To be honest, the bands I've been in where 100% of people are 100% happy with the song ended up with nowhere near enough songs to build a solid repertoire.

If you've already got a good repertoire, different story, drop the song.
