Re: NBD: Ibanez BTB1606

I actually had a BTB-676 before and it was a reasonably comfortable bass to play. The action wasn't as good as this one though. The 676 plugged in just sounded dull - i couldn't get a nice sound out of it. The 1606 has a much better pickup and preamp combination with a lot more tone shaping and soun...

NBD: Ibanez BTB1606

It's kinda hard to say no when something as beautiful as this is looking at you. It plays and sounds just as nice. Surprisingly light and the action is super low, with no buzzes anywhere. https://i.imgur.com/KMb5xGV.jpg https://i.imgur.com/62DfFkX.jpg https://i.imgur.com/j7EwTIM.jpg https://i.imgur....

Re: Interstate trip

Hope you find someone willing to loan you one, but seriously a bass in a solid hard case with adequate packing is pretty damn safe. Dunno what horror stories you've heard.

Re: Ebay thread PART TWO - the good, bad, and ridiculous...

I just had a look at the g30 and I was surprised to see it runs over the already congested 2.4ghz band. I’d steer clear of it personally. It’s basically on the same band as every Tom dick and harry’s Wireless network. If you’re playing with one of those PA setups which has wireless control of the mi...

You can. Won’t hurt anything. At worst you’ll just get more unwanted noise

Re: For Sale - Markbass Classic 300

2 tube modes, one for economy use and one for full fury How does this work exactly? I can't see a switch. I'm assuming it isn't a 2 channel amp. Can you choose either clean or saturated tone? I'm assuming it refers to the Bias button (next to the standby) - which sets the bias for the output tubes ...

Re: Live music, Cash On Delivery?

End of the day the ATO are after their slice of the pie.

Incidentally they give you the contract. You invoice on delivery of the services outlined in that contract. You wouldn’t write a contract for them to agree to. Sounds like you need an agent.

Re: Tube Amps

Nothing wrong with not liking tube amps. Like anything, it’s totally subjective. I played through solid state amps for a while and did enjoy the tone but they all seemed to run out of puff - they were nice at moderate volume but at stage volume (in a metal band) the more you turned them up the crapp...

Re: Ebay thread PART TWO - the good, bad, and ridiculous...

I just sold a 4HH for 1600 and it was a lovely bass. Dunno how it compares in playability and sound to that though.

That particular ray has been there for a while though and gets listed at different prices. Pretty sure it’s been 2800, 3500, 4000...

Yeah that was a good interview. I like the discussion about hand wiring and how component placement can affect your tone based on how they "talk to each other". Thanks for sharing that.

I tend to look at what gear bands are playing. But I have to say that the list if gear you identify in the OP were all a bit meh.

Re: Steve Harris gallop

It’s a very heavy bass. With the Harris flats on it, i found mine pretty much unplayable. Dunno how he does it. But yeah again it comes down to his technique. Low action and a very light touch. I play too hard with my right hand
