Re: WTB: MM 5 String Pickup/Warwick Parts

There are a big range of options - I think about $9 will get you a chinese ebay special, and I bet for $9, its a cracker, Warman and other companies do a 20 euro version But You can get an exact 5 string version of the original Leo F '77 pickup for about $100 US at Mojotone. . . Their stuff is good....

I thought the original post spelt it out quite clearly :)
Bazzbass, I hadn't realised untill now, that our locations are listed at the side, so I wasnt sure what the other end of the journey was. Thankfully we have people like yourself to point out our shortcomings when we make a mistake.

Re: Stingray 3 band eq mods.

This isnt exactly on topic, but I thought it worth mentioning here. The guys that do the great Stingray replica 2 band preamp, Mojotone have been making a '78 pickup replica for a while (as have Aero and Nordstrand etc) but they are the first to make the exact same pickup in a 5 string. No one else ...

Re: Wollongong Ozbassers help needed

So . . I take it that you are trying to buy a bass from a guy that wont post it , and you live in Wollongong? Well, I think some information about where its coming from , might be a good idea? my 2c worth? . . pay for it to be fully insured in transit. . . surely then the risk is yours? and if his p...

Re: Someone to watch

No, he's FAR from the norm , and considering that he's been playing for 5 years, I think he might be getting the hang of it . . . lol I was just looking at his recent effort (below)at soloing over "Havona", and putting his own spin on it. The feel and depth he has acheived in that 5 years leaves me ...

Someone to watch

This kid can play. Started playing when he was 7, and I dont know how old he is now, . . maybe 12? He has a youtube channel with versions of seriously tough tunes for players of any age, and plenty of improvising. Here's a minor loop improv, and a fretless version of Teentown. https://www.youtube.co...

Re: Music Man amps

Ain't they the ones with a SS pre amp mated to an all tube power section? @Slapfest "reliable. ..that's not something I'd often say about a tube amp. .. " I always find these comments strange. . I and many others I know of. .. have used all tube amps all our lives and In my case I've had I think on...

Re: I desperately need help with technique and don't know where to begin

Seconding maxgroovers excellent advice, I would also recommend you record yourself. The key to efficient practice is to go straight in to the places you're making mistakes, and work to correct those mistakes specifically. Couldn't agree more with that. I also agree that 1 hour is plenty per day , a...

Re: Ampless?

I have used my qsc k12 to do this. Any powered monitor with 2 inputs is great for it. Send from your Pedal board into one input, the foldback send to the other input. You can then control your volume thru the wedge independently of the desk. I quite like this concept. Especially for those who also ...

Re: Music Man amps

yes, I have played through an HD130 many times. . A mate has one in his collection . . Its a good, clean valve amp , not over-powered, from memory, (could be enough, just depends how loud your band is, I guess) , but reliable, as well (not often something I'd say about a valve amp.) . . I dont recal...

Re: Vintage JBL 15" $100

Hey Slapfest, apologies, up until now I didn't know the speaker model. I just found the receipt from the Speaker Hospital - it is a k140. Hope that helps, cheers! Hey, not a worry. A K140 - If I had the cash, i'd be all over that. They were a great bass speaker. I carted a pair of them around in a ...

Re: is there even a PJ set that works?

You can make any P/J set work with active mixing. But if you want to stay passive, or at least mix passively before a preamp, I'd strongly recommend trying what I've done with my 80's JB4. The J is the original Dimarzio - hot, mid-rangey, adjustable pole pieces. The P is underwound alnico 5. A typi...

electric bass thinking

Anyone that is familiar with Fodera Basses will know the name Mike Pope - designer of their preamp . . Well he has designed his own model with a couple of great ideas built in . Its good to see people are still thinking on trying to improve or accomodate different styles and sounds outside of the us...
